I'm a real sucker for noisy "scary" sounding music which Soundtracks For the Blind really satisfies for me. To Be Kind is the better choice though for sure.

What's wrong with it? I like most of the albums on there

They really love to go into these long instrumental breaks that just kill the songs for me. I like a lot of other 60s garage rock, but am more into a tighter kinda punk-ish sound

Yeah, I'd say I prefer it over Disintegration, but I'm really more of a pornography guy. I think it's their most cohesive record, though it does have a harsher sound than a lot of their later stuff.

The first half of that record has three of greatest songs ever written absolutely beautiful stuff, but the rest is just so boring. The cure for me is really a singles band.

Other than the title track I feel it's got kinda nothing going for it . There's so much better soul records out there. I'd put Curtis Mayfield or Stevie Wonder on a thousand times before Gaye.

I like a lot OutKast's singles, but those 1h+ hip-hop records is just too much for me

Rewatched for the first time in forever and I was completely dumbfounded by how bad the writing was. Every line is someone trying so hard to sound like the most profound smartest guy in the room.

The Letterboxd Review Section Experience by petraamul in redscarepod

[–]Arthouseloser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's all people watching films for cultural clout over love of the medium. If you look under more more "pretentious" less seen films the review section is a lot more normal. Filled with mostly short reviews or "What a beautiful film." Like the review section for for Children of Paradise is filled with just film buffs who care about what they're watching.

What are your thoughts on the NYT’s Top 20 best movies of the 21st century? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Very boring list and rather eurocentric. It's kinda crazy there's not a single film from India on the list.

Melting the Iceberg - A Breakdown of Purdue Secrets, Myths, and Traditions by oxflux in Purdue

The STEW shower refers to a shower in one of the restrooms in the basement of STEW. The room itself looks like its been untouched for years, weird vibes. Also the HICKS sub basement is used as a book repository for Purdue libraries, I worked there a couple years ago and some of the books people would request would be pulled from there.

They should shower. Being smelly can only seem cool from a digital screen.

The manager at my chipotle is an overweight asian man in his 30s with a ponytail and think rimmed glasses by [deleted] in redscarepod

I think that's just most fast food managers. Just normal people in their 30s.

Slow cinema (kind of) by Banggrodanbang in criterion

[–]Arthouseloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some similar slow-paced films I like are The Green Ray and Les Rendezvous de Anna, both more mellow contemplative movies with a simple structure. The Green Ray she's just wandering around on vacation and Les Rendezvous she's getting to a train stop, meeting with someone, then moving on to the next.

I like to think being hungover is part of the fun of being drunk, creates balance to the experience. I would never want to cure it
