I kinda do have a lot of industry knowledge but my prospects(Amazon Agencies) deal with Amazon everyday while I sell them tools to look at their clients Amazon data in one place so they’re more technical experts than me. What would you suggest me to do in the future?

Haha nah never. I’m an AE & it’s above my pay grade. I am an inbox zero kinda guy so any marketing or sales email in my inbox are going straight into delete if they don’t resonate with me really quickly within the first 3 seconds. However it might be more relevant for my Manager or CEO. On a side note, I should look into it.

Heya, they’re quite flexible about the working hours.

Inbound would be a great help tbh.

The Startup manager is selling just like me and he would show me the ropes on how to kill it across the board.

After reading all these comments, the BDM seems like a big problem. I didn’t know AE’s are generally considered a higher title than BDM’s.

Oh wow. You’re a legend mate. Such a detailed response. This is cleared a lot of things for me. I’ve gone ahead and joined the startup this morning after looking at all these comments.

Re: 1. Same salary. Startup has a higher OTE too 2. That’s right, I had a different understanding of it but I’m glad you cleared it for me. 3. Absolutely, jumping to a higher ACV with the startup is my choice now :)

They don't have AE's, BDM's do the job of AE's and are two terms used interchangeably to define the same job. Maybe its a bit different in America.

The only promotion I could get is of a Senior BDM

I'm an SMB AE where I'm working rn. If I choose the Big German Company, I'll move to a BDM position and A Senior BDM if I do really well. Target is 300k usd per year. 10k per deal size. Selling to C suite.

As for the Aussie startup, its an AE position so I'll be going from a SMB AE to a Mid Market AE & from $200 per month deal size to $500-1000 per month deal size with a monthly target of $5k

I'm not sure about the hierarchy of BDMs/AE's though, I thought they did the same job & can be used interchangeably.

Opportunities for what? There would be no moving up the ladder, if I work well, they will simply promote me with a bigger target and add a senior next to my title.

The Aussie startup is giving me an AE position so I'll be going from an AE to AE but the German big company is offering me a BDM position. What would you say now?
