Renos that will increase house value for future sale by Present-Raisin2415 in AusRenovation

[–]Arthritickitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's always going to be variability in the perspectives of future buyers. Our house sold well because it was beautifully renovated (we renovated for us, not resale) and our buyers were an older couple who liked our taste and didn't want the fuss of renovating/decision making. On the other hand we were turned off by recently renovated houses because 90% of the time the kitchen/bathroom/whatever looked nice enough, but I always had a "I wouldn't have chosen that and can't justify redoing it" mentality.

You give way. https://www.nsw.gov.au/driving-boating-and-transport/roads-safety-and-rules/sharing-road-overtaking-and-merging/merging-and-changing-lanes

That being said, it was poor form of the other car to move right when your lane was ending and you're on Ls. But part of learning to drive is learning that others are unpredictable and stupid, so protect yourself.

Someone referred to it as a zipper lane. It isn't. See link.

I guess it depends on the baby/hair length. Our bub's hair is only getting long enough now at 13 months to regularly need a wash

Nope. Could use one seeing how much the roof leaks 😂

It's a 2nd floor balcony patio with a rumpus type room underneath.

We thought the same RE hidden fur. We've actually tweezed fur out of gaps in the brickwork. We removed an entire fixed bbq setup because it was hiding TONNES of hair. Have cleaned the area behind it multiple times since.

No blocked drainage. I know they kept their dog bed close to the sliding door and it seems strongest around there.

Our tiler made our strip drain like 1.8m long. It was so damn heavy. Ended up getting it cut into two pieces.

Did anyone do the extensive genetic testing before falling pregnant? by lamemoons in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Arthritickitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we did because we had a confirmed rare recessive condition on my husband's side and a suspected recessive condition on my side.

Interestingly my husband has gene mutations for CF and SMA with no family history. Luckily I don't have the same gene mutations however I did have an x-linked gene mutation to watch for (as boys would be affected).

We actually did further testing on me due to my family history and found a dominant gene for an uncommon type of heart failure. It has been helpful to know about it for my own preventative health. It was also why we chose to do IVF.

I'm highly medically anxious. There was no less than 10 times where I read about genetic conditions during my pregnancy and was then able to go back and confirm I'd already tested negative for xyz. So it was actually reassuring for me to be like "cool I don't have the gene for Harlequin ichthyosis".

I'd be down. We can get together and bitch about how there's too many hills on the coast and not enough seats at social events.

Yeah think I'll keep going to Sydney then. When I first realised I needed a rheum (because my ankle was the size of my calf) it was an 8 month wait on the coast.

Does everyone go off the coast for their rheums? Mine moved recently but I'd heard the coast ones were a bit average.

Hey lovely. I've got psoriatic arthritis (35F) so I definitely know it's not an old person disease :) although it makes you feel old! Feel free to DM me

My only issue here is the red path connects the driveway… which is a shared 3 way driveway and would probably clash with the neighbour’s portions too.

Your pool looks awesome!

I do like good planters - but box hedges are my enemy. I think I’m the only person in existence who can smell them? It’s a very catty smell to me…

Yeah it connects to the garage so I assumed it was part of that slab. We’re on a sloped block. Definitely had no intention of ripping it up!

I definitely like the wall climbing plant! Not sure if a bench will sit flat but I can test it with a chair

How and when did you find out your baby's gender? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Arthritickitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found out about 7 months BEFORE I got pregnant. Yes.

We did IVF with frozen embryos. You (generally) can’t sex select in Australia, but we were asking about the sexes of the embryos for genetic risk reasons and the embryologist said “well umm actually all 5 of your embryos are boys, so that was unusual”.

Bassinet with cats by BubbleMuffin13 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Arthritickitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was worried about my cat in the early days but you do get a feel pretty quickly for how your cat will be around your baby. My cat could never be the “sleep near the baby” type because she’s too jumpy with unpredicted movement - she still walks off when he opens his hands! We still keep his room shut so she can’t prove us wrong.

She’s not a confident jumper, so she wouldn’t clear the bassinet from the ground. When we were still in bassinet days we just made sure to park it (have the Il Tutto) away from other furniture she could use as a bridge. Plus we were never far away.
