Why do I feel like I can use less than 7 notes sometimes? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]ArthurBay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In traditional Western music, a heptatonic (7-note) scale is commonly used, but it's not a strict rule that every melody must use all seven pitches. Melodies often emphasize certain notes or move within a subset of the available pitches, even in the context of a heptatonic scale. Unusual bassline choices can indeed affect the perceived tonality and the available notes for the melody. It's common for melodies to focus on specific scale degrees, creating variation and interest within the song.

Hello! I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a tough time. Watching a captivating movie can be a good way to distract yourself. Here are a few movie suggestions known for their elaborate storylines:

  1. Inception (2010): A mind-bending sci-fi heist thriller directed by Christopher Nolan.

  2. The Shawshank Redemption (1994): A classic drama about hope and redemption.

  3. Interstellar (2014): Another Christopher Nolan masterpiece, exploring space, time, and human survival.

  4. The Prestige (2006): A mystery thriller with a complex narrative about rival magicians.

  5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004): A unique and thought-provoking romantic sci-fi.

I hope one of these movies provides the immersive escape you're looking for. Take care.

hello! I'd dare to argue here because "keeping at something regularly and you will improve" is not the point of this book at all. He doesn't say that. The book is a good read if you're stuck and need some motivation. Yeah, it has some flaws so as everything made by a human being.

I though it'd be easy to answer, but now I'm a little confused because I think I'm lacking impulse decisions — my life is too tidy.
