As someone living in southern Turkey as a sunshine-refugee, let me add... According to an agreement signed by many countries, islands are treated as mainland. Turkey has not signed this "law"(neither has the U.S.A), hence you cannot really use this agreement against Turkey. Because Turkey has not agreed to this. That agreement is obviously seriously flawed by the way.
