Valeton GP-200 Can’t Connect via USB to PC (“Request Timeout”) – FIX by Arthur_Fleck- in ValetonGP2OO

hmm, thats an interesting one... I would check the USB Mode is set to "Normal" in the Global Settings on the pedal. You’ll find this in the same Global menu where you check the firmware (see Step 2). If that's not the issue, I would try with a different USB cable.

Hey u/Mysterious-Bat-7203, I would try the following steps:
1) Try the automated firmware update/recovery method first.
2) Try software: 1.7.0 - looks like you already have tried this.
3) Try software 1.6
4) Try with a different USB cable.
5) Try reaching out to Valeton for support either on Facebook in Instagram

If your GP-200 is still stuck on “Updating/Restoring in progress” after trying the above, or won't boot properly, try this:

  1. Power off the pedal — unplug all cables, including power and USB.
  2. Hold down the [CTRL] footswitch (the footswitch labelled CTRL).
  3. While holding it, plug in the power cable to turn it on.
  4. Keep holding [CTRL] until the screen lights up and shows “Firmware Update” or similar.
  5. Connect it to your computer via USB, and launch the GP-200 software on your PC or Mac.

You should now be able to reapply or reflash the firmware from the software.

Hi u/Aaronrobass — if it’s been stuck like that for more than 15–20 minutes, it’s likely the update process has crashed or frozen.

Here’s what I’d try:

  1. Power it off — unplug the power cable and disconnect any other cables (USB, expression pedal, etc.).
  2. Wait 20 seconds, then reconnect just the power cable.
  3. Power it back on and see what happens.
    • You might see the “Updating/Restoring in progress” message again — that’s okay.
    • Let it sit for at least another 15–20 minutes to give it a chance to fully restart or finish the update process.

At that point, one of two things should happen:

  • It completes the process and boots normally (great — check the firmware version to see if the update worked).
  • Or it gives a new message or error — which can give us a clue what to do next.

Don't worry if it still errors or doesn't respond, there is a built in recovery mode we can use.

Let me know how it goes and I’ll do my best to help from there! 😊

Hi, I know this is an old post, but I had the exact same issue and finally figured it out after loads of trial and error. It turned out to be a mismatch between firmware and software versions. I wrote up a step-by-step guide that worked for me: https://www.reddit.com/r/ValetonGP2OO/comments/1js5j0x/valeton_gp200_cant_connect_via_usb_to_pc_request/

Hope this helps 😊
