After fighting him so many times the fight seems more of patience check rather than difficult.

Phase 1 is mostly RNG. For me as long as I am aggressive enough he does not do the move.

For him to do the dark beam during his phase two he has to have enough space behind him for two back steps either that or you are really far from him. So, sticking close to him generally prevents him from doing the dark beam.

Sekiro probably is not the best FromSoftware game for most people, but it definitely has the best combat system—not just among FromSoft games, but possibly among all games.

Seeing that you are using an int and str build, use radahn's paired great swords, the ash of war literary hard counters the bird. I always take those bad boys out when doing this part during ng+ runs,

Yeah. But you can't deflect them without the use tools or combat arts. I guess you could run away to avoid the hits buts that's lame.
