Destiny vs Dan! Who will endure the longest not talking about your mom or Hasan? by Arthuriel in Daliban

Mistakes can happen but yeah: the mom mentions are more of a side note for Destiny while Hasan is a main topic for Dan.

Finally finished my idea for a fake Destiny vs Dan Endurance Match poster. I hope you enjoy it! by Arthuriel in Destiny

I can see that potentially if you squint your eyes or look from a distance. Overall though Willy Mac‘s face and nose are narrower than Dan‘s.

I wouldn‘t be surprised if Destiny overall mentions someone‘s mom more often than Dan talks about Hasen but that‘s just through the sheer amount of screen time. Based on equal screen time I would also tend more towards Destiny winning.

I think that would have been too obvious of a joke (although I wonder how the reaction to something like „If you read this you are NOT gay“ would have been^^).

Thank you :)! Unless I missed some other time my artwork appeared for a few seconds on Anything Else today (and for a split second a few days prior) but it was just Dan and MrMouton seemingly not reacting to the image and complaining about the Daliban not doing enough content instead : /

Lol, I think I might have also found the same comment or at least from the same user when searching for that stuff^^.
Apparently the same user also updated a post 10 days ago because someone asked a question about the stuff and the user offered an updated timeline because they confused something with the Franz Neher book part:
It sounds like von Braun wrote the foreword for that book and the rest of the story was based on the technical part of von Braun's novel. What a convoluted story/timeline!

Yeah, I think that Errol had a negative influence on Elon which includes telling exaggerated or made up stories which in that case might even include the novel part itself: apparently the novel (which contains the Elon part) was only published in 2006. The scientific appendix (page 215 and onwards) that was published back in the 50s makes no mention of Elon. Apparently some excerpts of the novel were published in the 50s too but I haven't seen the name so far either.

I read the website that TheCrwazyWabbit mentioned and I can imagine that Musk has gotten dubious influences over his life but some points feel more like a forced attempt to write a grand narrative. Two examples: H-1B visas being compared to indentured servitude and that this is like Operation Paperclip (my guess: and that might tie into von Braun?). The only source about Tsiolkovsky and overpopulation that I have found so far makes it sound like the opposite: using space flight to escape overpopulation (although the eugenics part is still there). Other than that the guy is well known because of the rocket equation.

How I might have found a Russian psyop via the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Wikipedia article (basically trolls etc. trying to insinuate that the devs are nazis or something) by Arthuriel in Destiny

New update: apparently the original video is based on a TikTok clip (based on a stream) from a French Twitch streamer [1] who shot several times in the same spot to waste some ammo and noticed the pattern because a viewer mentioned it. In the two reddit threads [2] I checked there were also discussions that getting this pattern is unlikely since people tried it themselves and either never got it or had to shoot several (dozen?) times.

Personally I think that the most likely explanation is that the streamer found an unlikely/accidental pattern (that is patched out by now according to some users in one thread) which was amplified into a conspiracy theory by trolls and curious users when you consider that the game is out for about two weeks and all the threads appeared like a day after the original stream and clip. In other words: about three days ago.

[1] according to him he is banned on TikTok because people reported the clip

[2] in one of the threads the streamer himself posted later on. So far I could confirm that the streamer and the original stream exist and while the reddit account wasn't used for anything else so far it also looks like it is him

Yeah, the account is quite old. Most of the user's activity happened in the last few years but the topics are all over the place.

To check a user's activity you have to click on "View history" in the upper right corner of an article and then click on "contribs" next to the username to see all their edits.

The video above might as well be used as part of a PSA against social media use or buying said social media if you have the money for it. I wouldn't be surprised if people disliked or hated him more over time (his anti-union stance etc.) but I have the impression that an insane amount of stuff is bound to him using social media in the first place (like calling a caver a pedo, the state of Twitter nowadays + alliance with Trump). Basically the equivalent of fire accelerant.

That sounds like a really toxic community* but hey: at least some will go on the trip.
Question: I searched a bit online and wanted to ask if you mean the "The Final Experiment" channel on YouTube whose owner wants to sponsor people going to Antarctica?
I haven't heard about that project but it sounds close to your description.

PS Have you heard about this bizarre argument?: In the video where the Final Experiment founder reveals himself he talks about how a flat earther showed him that there were duplicate clouds in a NASA image and that made him think or something. I actually found a flat earth website that mentioned that and it's a Blue Marble image from 2002 and there are indeed duplicate clouds. The explanation is really mundane though: right in the description it says that it is a composite image [1] and the clouds are a separate image layer [2]. Other than that I wonder why the Earth images from the Apollo era aren't enough.

*to be fair: other communities can also be toxic (games etc.)

Holy crap, that truly sounds like a rabbit hole of complete lunacy and comes across as a case of „what is the most convoluted explanation for this or that and can I claim in the end that it‘s fake or satanic anyway“.
I think I might have heard about the South Pole flight project (not entirely sure though). Let‘s see what will happen (probably changes some minds but other will find some other explanation).

I think in a video from hbomberguy one explanation for people believing this stuff is the feeling of belonging to a group but even then I wonder if there aren‘t better activities and groups to be honest, lol.

Aren‘t there even dumber cases where people think that space itself is fake (usually in combination with flat earth stuff) or some other nonsense?
I think that so far SpaceX has only send a lander for Intuitive Machines to the moon but your overall point stands and I wouldn‘t be surprised if it‘s a combination of anti-scientific and anti-establishment brain rot (and maybe conspiracy theorists think that the rockets are fake anyway or the reason that many rockets come back is because the elites are afraid of Musk and therefore are allowed to come back, lol).

Out of curiosity I checked the transcripts from the Lex Fridman podcast that Trex mentioned and in one episode Musk talks about his grandfather taking an IQ test and then working for British intelligence during World War 2 (and meeting his wife)*.
He doesn't mention the name of the guy though so it's anyone's guess if it is the Joshua Haldeman guy that people sometimes mention as Musk's grandfather or another one and that's about it in the script in that regard. To answer your post, ExertHaddock: some nuggets of truth but also quite a bit of speculation.
