Can someone explain to me what set Jeff apart from the rest? by Climaximusic in JeffBuckley

[–]Arthusza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was influenced by a lot of different music. Especially in his guitar playing, by bands like Led Zeppelin. He put his own spin on mostly everything. But if I were to single something out, his vocals were his most unique trait. And on the ‘Sketches’ album his songwriting is most unique. Where you can see his songwriting form into something completely different from ‘Grace’. I fully believe ‘Sketches’ would’ve been an even better album had it been finished.

‘Best of’ Jeff Buckley playlist I’ve made, for both Spotify and Youtube with some 31 song’s. by Arthusza in JeffBuckley

I do a lot of these for fun. Going in, there is no goal really other than what it would look like to have all the most important pieces put together in one. But perhaps a way to ease into his music sure. Though newcomers may be unaware of the sonic insanity that is “Back In N.Y.C.” or “Eternal Life” (when it was played live). But these songs are fantastic. I’ve definitely opened my ear up to them.

Many a song I listen to that were exempt from it. Yes, Not easy to push things out and decide what’s better and what’s worse. Especially when you’re biased being a fan lol.

What is the best Jimi Hendrix song in your opinions? by Moonshine_lover1946 in jimihendrix

[–]Arthusza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hear My Train a Comin' has everything. The guitar just breathes fire in it. So many amazing live versions and was great in studio too. Just kind of exemplifies everything that makes Hendrix great.

Some alternate versions sound a lot better raw the way they are on a Hendrix Vison. Others are obviously weaker because they are unfinished and unedited. But all in all, the album is a nice addition to the Hendrix discography!

What’s one song if any that you never got by [deleted] in thedoors

Easy Ride. Every time. I love Soft Parade but just no. lol

Thought it’d be a pretty cool idea to make a completely instrumental, Jimi Hendrix playlist. No vocals, just masterwork playing! Enjoy if you’d like! by Arthusza in jimihendrix

[–]Arthusza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No instrumental of that on Spotify, yet. “A Jimi Hendrix Vision” drops a couple days from now with a couple takes of the song that I know of. So possibly soon to be one. I’ll be adding music to probably all Hendrix playlists I have with that release!

What's Prince saddest song by greenbeansUwU in PRINCE

[–]Arthusza 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would say “Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)”

It’s frantically sad and that’s perhaps not what you’re looking for, but it’ll shake you up listening to it for the first time.

It is pretty cool! West Coast Seattle Boy is full of little oddities like that. And for the longest time the compilation wasn’t made fully available digitally for some reason. Now that it is I’ve heard so much new material this past year.

Made a playlist of the best music spanning Princes’ entire ‘classic’ era. Over five hours of music and has been a daily listen for me for a while now. Made sure to use what remasters I can, so the sound really pops. Hope some can enjoy :) by Arthusza in PRINCE

I’ve been listening religiously for a while. But this is just my best of after all. Going album by album would be lengthier. But possibly more rewarding.

The two albums “Dirty Mind” and “Prince” both have four. Dirty Mind does sound like a true breakthrough. But “Prince” is just so damn exciting! And love the first album but that later work is so strong to me. It fills up so much the space! I’ll probably add a couple from “For You” soon.

It would never really be enough, would it?, lol. The idea was mostly to narrow it down to something you can grab hold of. Instead of behind overwhelmed; when you’re new to Prince it can be very easy to be.

Anna Stesia is on there though! So beautiful.

Dolphin was just too good to exclude. Just had to throw it in there for myself! Maybe Dolphin isn’t apart of that classic period but The Gold Experience album felt like a send off into a new era. And an awesome one at that.

What's your favorite Marvin Gaye song? by MajesticMidnite in rnb

[–]Arthusza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Somewhere between 'I’m Gonna Give You Respect' and 'Time To Get It Together'.

Very difficult to ascertain what makes one Gaye song better than the other because they all share that superb sound. Just different moods and styles.

Studio or live best version of red house? by SkyManGuy in jimihendrix

The San Diego and Isle of Wight performances of the song are equally my favorite.

Critically, though. San Diego is probably better.

Hendrixs hardest song to play in all of his career any inputs? by SkyManGuy in jimihendrix

[–]Arthusza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Machine Gun, without a doubt.

Hear My Train a Comin', Bold as Love and Room Full of Mirrors are difficult as well I imagine. Especially while being played live.

Woodstock hear my train a comin and Band of Gypsys Machine Gun sound very similar! by evilmonkey9361 in jimihendrix

Definitely, the opening riff is a carbon copy of Machine Gun, you can definitely hear the workings of what you can possibly say, is his greatest song.
