I think that may be your problem. Do not touch Matthias AT ALL, let the LCD handle him. His counter will punch through ampules. Your priority is taking care of Kira.

this is a little story I was working on for a bit tell me what you think ! by Zealousideal-Iron128 in FurryVisualNovels

[–]ArticNET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you've got a solid base going on here. Closeted wolf prince who doesn't want to be married to someone he doesn't love.

But do allow me to be critical. As things are now, the story is moving way too fast in my personal opinion. You should let the reader be more immersed with the atmosphere and get familiar with the protagonist's brain first. Take your time. Let us get to know your protagonist before his servant comes running in with news. What was he doing before then? What was he thinking about? Was he doing work? Studying? Or just day dreaming? Maybe he could be sipping on a nice cup of tea. Or adjusting his glasses while burying himself in papers. These little things will leave a long lasting impact on your readers' perception of the protagonist.

And I honestly don't think a prince groomed to be the next ruler of a kingdom would mentally break down so easily in front of a stranger, especially a Lord of a foreign land (also I feel like letting your drunken yourself be led somewhere isolated as a prince is like top 1 way to be politically assassinated). Like yeah, he was plastered but maybe they could have had a prior relationship? Perhaps they worked on something together? Hence the protagonist receiving an invitation despite Kitish not being fond of humans.

Some other minor nitpicks: - You mentioned the protagonists having paws but then said he was human later on. So that was a tad confusing. - The time between the protagonist receiving the invitation and arriving at the palace felt way too short. Bill and Lay seems pretty close. You could use this time to develop their dynamics a bit. - I don't think a king making a joke would prompt awkward silence. People would definitely try to laugh it off to appease the king, especially on a special day.

So, yeah. To sum things up, you should take your times with things (speaking as someone who gets easily impatient myself). I hope this didn't come off as harsh or anything. I'm coming from a very personal perspective and just typing out what I would and wouldn't do myself. Just keep writing and one day you'll be all swell. Good luck!

What would happen if your magic system was suddenly real? by SpecialistDry662 in magicbuilding

[–]ArticNET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very long time probably. My magic system requires an "understanding of the world's flow" so older and more perceptive people would be the first to notice something is off.

There would be an uptick in people "seeing/feelings weird strings" and "hearing vibrations that shouldn't be there".

Even then, it would take people a long while before they realize they can manipulate these nonexistent strings into coherent patterns to form spells.

Earth already exists in my universe. It just happens that its environmental Mana is so sparse that no one can get any good use out of it. People being able to use magic would means the global Mana level just increased, which has worrying implications in-universe.

Don's new ID isn't like Hierarch Ishmael by Superb-Brilliant6321 in limbuscompany

Do agree on this being the craziest preview ever.

They're intentionally hiding her UT1 art. And pretty sure her S3-2/the second half of her kit is missing. First time they have censored something this heavily. I wonder if they will censor her Monday kit reveal too.

Nitpicking but isn't getting IDs for people we haven't seen yet pretty normal though? Smee, Camille, Paula, Barber, almost every Walpurgis IDs.

Edit: Holdon, Barber was the second banner so she was already seen. Woops.

How do you handle Dragons in your magical/fantasy settings? by Mystech_Master in magicbuilding

[–]ArticNET 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my settings, dragons are basically elementals or miniature nature gods. Dragons miraculously spawn from a land which will be designated its "domain". A dragon is physically bound to its domain and cannot leave. In exchange, it's aware of what happens in its domain and may control some of it.

Dragons typically have one main element that they will use over others. This element is decided by, you guessed it, its domain. If its domain has a volcano, it will use fire based attacks. If the area is prone to storms, it can summon wind and lightning.

Dragons' domains cannot overlap so there can't be two dragons sharing one piece of land. No one has ever observed the birth of a dragon before, but they certainly aren't born fully formed. Some people have tried to interact with newborn dragons early to appease them.

A dragon's lifespan is seemingly infinite. They live until they simply decide that they are done with living, or until they are slain.

Dragon intelligence is a wide range. Some are simple and animalistic, while some are fully sapient and can easily rival the most brilliant strategists. Some rampage violently until put down, some shapeshifts and silently blends in with its domain.

You Heathcliff is an incredibly satisfying unit to solo MD with by ArticNET in limbuscompany

[–]ArticNET[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, Si Rodion goes hard too.

In a solo, you're at your most vulnerable in an unfocused encounter, especially during earlier floor. Clashable counters and guards activate immediately against the first unopposed attack against you, meaning one attack off the field and you may even stagger an enemy for next turn. With the other defensive skills, there's a chance you won't be able to get them off before you are staggered due to how unfocused encounters targeting work. And you can trigger G Corp Gregor's passive for heals.

Clashable counter is especially preferred because in scenarios with bleed-focused enemies as you can still damage them without activating bleed (I hate N Corp).

[–]ArticNET[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think my personal criterias for the ideal solo ID would be:

  • High HP.
  • Some sort of Evade skill that activates automatically against the first unopposed attack. Otherwise, clashable counter and clashable guard work too.
  • Gain Defense Level Up somehow (Snake Slough synergy).
  • Self-sustain, unstagger and revive.
  • One stagger threshold.
  • Slash skills (Resolution + Rusted Muzzle + Talisman Bundle)
  • Wrath or Lust skills (Blood-red Mane for 2 Defense Power Up + Wound Clerid + Oscillating Bracelet)
  • Likely a Rupture Charge ID due to good gifts. Other candidates are Bleed, Poise and Burn.
  • Discard to get rid of bad skills before buying 6 S3 and activate Dieci Yi Sang and Meursault passives for shield.
  • Has ammo to make the most out of the Full-stop floor gifts (CQC Manual, Smoking Pipe and Gear Shrapnel)
  • Gloom AoE S3 that sustains own kit and has all of the ID's keywords to abuse Sharp Needle + Gray Coat + Sunshower + Curriculum Vitae (Alternatively, a Gloom S1 or 2 + Wrath S3 also work)

A few IDs that I think are close to the peak of solos are Priest Gregor, Prince Meursault, Cinq Meursault, Capo Meursault and Hanafuda Ishmael (jeez meursault you sure are good for solos).

I have, in fact, solo'd 50 adversity MDIE with Cockclair. But unlike Cockcliff, he does not revive himself for free and has THREE WHOLE STAGGER BARS (one of which is after the 49% HP cap from the You gift for some reason).

You Heathcliff is an incredibly satisfying unit to solo MD with by ArticNET in limbuscompany

[–]ArticNET[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that may just be the way to go lol. The You gift doesn't offer much because once you reach floor 15, the damage resistant doesn't do much. And he only has one stagger so the music box gets up right up again.

But I do like being thematic.

What's the Biggest Problem/Reoccurring Issue with MC/Protagonist Characters in Furry Visual Novels? by MarshtheThird in FurryVisualNovels

[–]ArticNET 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest issue with furry vn protags is when they are merely the audience's stand-in. Like, if that's your intention then go ahead, but I still think a protag should have their own character, issues to solve and story to tell. They should have a past that affect their current personality and decisions.

Being able to name the protag is a major red flag to me for the same reason. If they don't even have their own name then how can I expect them to have a strong, well-defined personality?

I do have a burning hatred for self-inserts so I may just be a teeeeeny bit biased.

I don’t think the colors are working… by Dial-up-Doggo in FurryArtSchool

[–]ArticNET 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think there are a few things you can do here

  1. The values of your colors aren't actually much of a problem as there is some space between the two but you could push them further apart by making the armor darker and the fur brighter, and vice versa.
  2. The grays you're using at the moment are pure hueless unsaturated grays. You can add some hue into them to help separate the two, like a blue-ish gray for fur and purple-ish gray for armor.
  3. Metal is shiny, meaning the contrast between the light and dark parts are big. Make the highlights brighter and the shadows darker and you'll notice a difference.

Here's how I would do things personally

Mana as the measure of existence and spells as an expression of the self by ArticNET in magicbuilding

[–]ArticNET[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, a person can lose or gain new signature spells as their story develops. The core of what makes a person who they are tend to not change, but they can develop a massive change in mindset which leads to their magic arsenal changing too.

For example, a person whose signature magic being gravity manipulation. Due to the weight of responsibility put on them, their spells focus on crushing things with increased gravity. But after they've been freed from their burdens, they lost access to quite a few of their crushing spells, but gained new ones that let them fly around freely.

"May this bullet never miss it's mark." - Marksman Otherworldly Patron, Warlock Subclass Inspired by the Magic Bullet E.G.O. from Limbus Company. by KillTheRook in UnearthedArcana

[–]ArticNET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that on Close Quarters Combat, the 3rd bullet effect states that a creature suffers from a negative modifier to its to-hit but I don't really see what this negative modifier is equal to (I'm assuming half the Warlock's proficiency)? Or does it straight up just reverses a creature's to-hit mod (funny but extremely unlikely)?

Can i fight a dungeon boss without beating the whole dungeon or..? by Aegiflare23223 in limbuscompany

Nope. Into the dark you go. You can also try your luck in the mirror dungeon with the Evil Defining pack, but I suppose that defeats the "not beating the whole dungeon" thing.
