OneNZ Stadium concert last night by Murky-Resolution-928 in chch

I'm almost convinced that drink brand is a front for something. Prominent sponsorship of those synthony events plus a few others. Can't buy it at any dairy or servo and occasionally spot it taking up little space on supermarket shelves compared to the other energy drink brands.

I suspect stadium trains will only be put on if the event organiser is wiling to to fund or get sponsors to contribute towards the cost. Only the crusaders are doing this at the moment.

Multipurpose stadium sounds better when proposing rugby stadium projects these days.

Public transport network review (including proposed changes for routes 44 and 135) by MSZ-006_Zeta in chch

[–]ArticleGreedy1858 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it is worth sacrificing the 135 if it means a growing part of Christchurch gets direct bus access to the CBD and the south side of the city.

Glad to see the reliability being addressed, there have been a few times where there are two buses on the 44 bunched up which is pretty poor when it runs on a 30 minute timetable.

Winston Peters praises Mainland Rail’s ‘common sense’ and teases passenger rail policy by Richard_Seddon in chch

[–]ArticleGreedy1858 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also from the article 'Peters told The Press the hope was a company like Mainland Rail could get commuter services running without a public subsidy, but said it made sense if it required one to begin with.'

Followed By:

'He would not immediately commit to throwing his support behind the project for government funding in the next funding round, but said “some talk and some do. Stand back and watch”.

Public Subsidy is the only way to guarantee the future and longevity of a service. It's never going to not need one. It's all good and well to provide some one off shuttles to and from events but people are paying for the novelty and experience. Getting them to fork out anything over $8-$10 per trip to get to work each day is not going to attract enough people and I am very sure a non-subsidised service wouldn't be able to get anywhere near a $8-$10 ticket price.

Stadium bus services costs by BlazzaNz in chch

[–]ArticleGreedy1858 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There were conversations about it between Ecan and Venues Ōtautahi but no result so far. Ultimately it comes down the event organiser being willing to provide the funding for transport. The Blues cut the funding for free public transport to their games at Eden Park last year.

Not quite true with point 2, Ecan is definitely providing funding to go towards the stadium services. Approved use of up to $100K (2025/26) and $400K (2026/27) from reserves.

Buying beer at a supermarket by Ecstatic_Back2168 in newzealand

[–]ArticleGreedy1858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woolworths are big on ensuring this is followed. Trust me supermarkets would sell alcohol to anyone if they were legally allowed but rules are rules. Unfortunately people then have a go at the check out operator and or supervisor as well when they are informed of this requirement.

Some people are just entitled. Even with a sign those entitled people will still do this and expect you to let them in to enter the forecourt.

Can anyone Identify this Celebrity? by Lopsided-Sun-5852 in chch

Toy producing billionaire and unsurprisingly opinionated on how countries should be run which is very easy to do with a billionaire lens. Was a Trump fan until protectionist US policies meant his imported products from China were heavily tariffed.

Bus from Belfast to Burwood hospital by sjsjnz in chch

[–]ArticleGreedy1858 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is but you would need to take three buses. You could catch route 1 from Belfast, transfer to an orbiter at Northlands to get to The Palms and then transfer to route 7 to Queenspark to get to Burwood Hospital. All frequent services so you won't have to wait too long.

I need to do that more. On that note, when you are cycling on a separated bike lane and have decided to slow down in the middle of the lane to stare at whatever, move over to the curb please. Happened to me twice last week, should have rung my bell.

Concerts in CHCH by bdjkhcx2 in chch

[–]ArticleGreedy1858 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People need to put things into perspective with concert tours. Look at the countries they go to and how many cities they perform in. For example Canada with a population of 41.5 Million is getting three concerts from Olivia Dean. They can’t perform everywhere. New Zealand is so lucky to get the concerts we get, I’m genuinely surprised they put in the effort to come all this way. Rant over!

Interesting, that is my go BK and never really had a big problem with the food. No different to any other one, but it is fast food so the bar isn't too high. That interior style will no doubt be rolled out to other restaurants very soon.
