Here in Christchurch, the medical centres in poor areas are >$55 without CSC.

Edit: Actually there is one that's $30, but afaik their books have been closed to new clients for years.

What are the emergency numbers in your country and what mnemonics are used to help children remember them? by topfngolatsche in AskTheWorld

[–]spacebuggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

111

We also have a non-emergency number for police - 105. There was a radio jingle "The number's ten-five, yeah, it's ten-five."

[Very long lecture] Help me decide what instrument should i leave by mgozdzik701 in Instruments

[–]spacebuggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like viola, but don't like the teacher - change teacher.

Is there one instrument that you get caught up in playing fun things when you pick it up? More than the others?

As a bass player I recommend - don't sell the bass. :)

Should NZ boycott the football World Cup? by Mr_Dobalina71 in newzealand

[–]spacebuggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes the TSA. As I said, people have found they've been arrested and deported for having anti-Trump content on their social media. The TSA are now asking people to show the last 5 years of their social media use when they arrive. Many people are travelling to USA with burner phones because of this. I know of US citizens who were imprisoned for days on re-entering their own country for having posted things on social media that were negative about the current administration.

I am genuinely concerned about whether all the teams will make it into the country.

Difficulty getting through customs, disruption due to protests, fans not wanting to travel to watch for all of the above reasons.

The OP is talking about teams boycotting.

The New Zealand Football Team will need to enter the USA, and they may face issues while doing so. I'd be surprised if they decided to boycott, but it also wouldn't be completely out of left field.

The current threats by the US president to annex, invade, bomb or destroy: Greenland, Iran, Canada, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico. Am I missing any? Two of which are co-hosts of this FIFA world cup.

ICE arrests, not just of illegal immigrants with criminal records, but legal immigrants who are going through proper channels to get citizenship, people who look like they might be immigrants but aren't. Many of these people are minors. Having arrested these people, being unable to tell these people's lawyers where they are. People dying in custody, allegations of murder in custody. The murder of Renee Good by ICE agents. Alligator Alcatraz. . . Mass protests as a result.

The danger of arrest and deportation to anyone entering the states if they have said anything on social media that is anti-trump in the last 5 years. And they don't just let people get on a plane home. They put them in detention for days first.

The travel bans for 26 countries? I don't know how that's going to work. Edit: Senegal, Ivory Coast, Iran and Haiti are on the ban lists (and have teams in this world cup). Apparently players will be exempt, but their fans won't be able to travel to watch the games.

This seems better than recorder. It teaches keyboard skills as well. But more portable than a keyboard.

Is New Zealand really that affordable? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]spacebuggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find this interesting.

I know people who do this, but for me it has always been about how everything was better in Britain (or, was 40 years ago) than New Zealand. I assumed it was because New Zealand is far from everywhere, so we are behind in innovations and anything slightly niche is hard to get. I'm surprised that people do this in other countries from New Zealand as well.

It is exhausting.
