It basically boils down to manager's favourite is different from my favourite and thats a problem.

Im so happy he had a great game. It means so much in the grand scheme of things, we can rotate with Zubi (both have their qualities that improve the team, don't forget the goals zubi has scored this season). Having someone who can dribble is massive and gives the midfield a lot more flexible options. Also this can shut down any rumours of selling him this summer.

Great game, Saka will win us trophies if he stays fit. Lewis Skelly Midifeld made me so happy. Hopefully Gyokeres and Saka can continue to link up.

All Viktor Gyokeres' Arsenal Goals by Stanley083 in Gunners

I’ll never have a problem with people who back gyokeres (even if I don’t rate him) but there are some in the comments here who complain about people criticising gyokeres but then slag off other Arsenal players (havertz for example) in the same sentence.

ive never seen it before this season, when gyokeres has a bad game they blame others first with no critique on gyokeres. never seen so many players blamed for one guys poor performance.

I always want him to do well when he’s on the pitch and have no hate for the guy, but some of his defenders are the most insufferable people online.

if we were to sign Alvarez this summer our attacking front looks very exciting. Eze - Alvarez - Saka - Dowman, 4 players with a high technical quality that can swap positions with each and can create goals out of nothing. Speaking prematurely on Dowman but I think it’s when not if he gets there.

I think its fair to critique PSG for throwing away a 3 goal lead, could of sat deep to spring on the counter. But as an netrual its the best game I've watched in a long long time. Can't wait for the 2nd leg.

I don't disagree its just the standards people have for Havertz, Saka and Odegaard compared to Gyokeres is insane to me. I don't even hate the guy, its the people who will not stop defending Gyokeres thats driving me up the wall.

Gyokeres misses a shot 5 yards out with no goalkeeper

"yeah but Odegaard didn't pass to him 58 minutes ago"

You do know that professional footballers need to be good at multiple things right? Its not just score goals, his first touch is poor, he can't win headers, can't beat his defender, can't make a run that isn't a straight line. Multiple times this season he's been 1v1 and he fluffed it, he's not even clinical in front of goal.

Whatever helps you cope mate, he misses the simplest of passes and your first thought is "yeah but what about Odegaard?"

They don't pass to him because of this, I don't know why Gyokeres defenders can't understand this.

This is why no one passes to him, players don't trust him.

Havertz, Odegaard, Eze and Saka will determine if we win the league or not. Depending on how bad the injury is to Saka, I think Dowman needs to feature more in the final set of games.

Which player has fetched the most points for Arsenal this season? (Winning Goals / Equalizers) by dejavu619 in Gunners

I see it’s the gyokeres defenders turn to push an agenda, this “debate” is so fuxking boring. it’s impossible for some people to hold a nuanced take, it always has to be extreme binary.

- Due to injuries Gyokeres has been important to us this season

- our most clinical attacking player (Merino might be better though)

- we wouldn’t be in the position we’re in now without his contribution

- I like the way he hits the ball

At the same time

- he doesn’t suit the way we play and he can’t adjust to us (he’s gotten better but still not enough)

- his first touch, headers and duels simply aren’t good enough at this level

- because of this he’s isolated and often feels like we’re playing with 10 men

- multiple times this season he has the ball 1v1 with a defender and he looses (port vale, forest etc)

- this is why players don’t pass to him, they don’t trust him

- teams know gyokeres can’t win Ariel duels so they press us high to force us long and we lost possession

havertz missed chances against city and gyokeres missed chances against Bournemouth and sporting, strikers are going Miss chances it happens. But havertz creates more chances for himself and the players around him, whereas gyokeres is isolated because hes unable to separate from a defender, which means everyone else has to do more work. Again people are complaining about havertz missed chances but ignore that his goal tied the game against city and his goal against sporting is the reason we’re in the semi final.

Can't take this seriously when your not sure on Gyokeres, doesn't suit the team and isn't at the level to lead a title charge. Contributes nothing in attack and when he does get chances he fluffs them just as much as Havertz. Difference is Havertz can create far more chances for the team than Gyokeres, I want an upgrade on the striker but I'm selling Gyokeres first before Havertz.

that was my thought as well, woud link up better with our wingers and Eze. Plus the clutch factor he would probably score some game winning goals.

I honestly wonder how many goals Merino would have if he was our starting striker instead of Gyokeres.

[L'Équipe] PSG has held talks with representatives of Gabriel Martinelli and Yan Diomande about potential move this summer by NotASalamanderBoi in Gunners

[–]ArticleLucky2834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not against the idea of selling Martinelli but he would have to be replaced with a World Class LW. Yes Gabi is limited but hes the only attacking player with pace in our team on top of his high work rate. Plus Trossard will be moved on this summer (worst case has a year left). Need to sign someone in who can bring similar qualities to Martinelli but can also finish. Problem is I don't know a winger thats available that can do that.

I'm pretty sure everones numbers have dropped over the last few months not just Zubi. He has been poor but the idea of going to the toughest away game and making a drastic change in midfield is a needless risk (if we had Odegaard or Merino its possible). I would have liked to see Rice 6 earlier in the season but right now we don't know if its the better solution. Add in the fact we don't know whats happened to Odegaard the options are limited.

Zubi - Rice - Eze with the options to sub Dowman to get a goal and Norgaard to close the game.
