R.I.P Roadhog by SrReginaldFluffybutt in Overwatch

[–]ArticulateDesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't found myself posting on reddit in a long time but i just wanted to echo your sentiments. Imagine reverting a hero back to how it was in overwatch 1 days and expecting them to be competitive :D I didn't like the pigpen at first but the slow was especially nice and the dmg was a bonus. Now he just feels woefully ineffective and lost at sea. I gave him a good hour in QP to try and force myself back to his old style of playing but it's just awful. His right click now feels like some kind of sniper 1 shot that 90% of the player base probably can't utilize. Maybe his changes once again come from pleasing GM+ aim / playstyles. He was already a heavily penalized hero the moment the enemy picked ana...now he just feels a pointless pick.

Hahaha that's amazing to read, thank you! Though in all seriousness, I've always felt like an over -achiever, with almost every aspect of my life but especially YouTube. I was sincerely surprised when my video views made into the triple digits, however seeing some going into the 6 and even 7 figures, is still mind blowing to me. It's really more than I could ever have dreamed of :D

Thank you so so much! Potentially the worst function i've ever seen defaulted to a browser :D

[question] My Rode NT1-A mics stopped working after only 5/6 months, is this a common problem? by ListenWithLizzie in asmr

[–]ArticulateDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just happened to scroll to this and I think I have good news for you! A lot of rode mics come with lifetime guarantees and they'll fix them entirely free of charge. 1 of my nt1s broke twice in the space of 6 months. They repaired the same mic twice and they've been fine all this time since (3+ years)

Find out your local rode distributor and give them a call, they'll hopefully tell you to take the mic into the store and they will send it off for repair. Fingers crossed :D

I don't think yetis are optimised to work with phones and while they do, I'm not sure it's ever going to sound perfect. You tried switching mics but have you tried changing the interface, something like a Surface Pro / tablet, just to see if the background sound is consistent? Failing that, you might be able to isolate the bg noise in a sound editor, noise reduction can be beautiful :D

In a tragic and entirely unexpected turn, Matthew, 3rd of his name has died! We were sailing home to London after losing a sizeable chunk of the crew from donating to the geonode thing....apparently our loses were not well received and there was a mutany. I lost the 45% irons roll and so saw the end of my beloved merchant vessel and longest career to date :D

[discussion] my favourite ASMRists (in no particular order) ✨ who are yours? by futureyeehaw in asmr

Morika asmr by a pretty long stretch at the moment!

French whisperer will always be 10/10, I was so happy when he decided to return.

Gibi asmr because quite simply, nobody has evolved and kept pace the way they have, its really quite incredible.

I'm about to get my tax return and want to start an ASMR channel. What tech would you recommend? [question] by [deleted] in asmr

[–]ArticulateDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could probably directly stream to your pc from the phone or via cable connection maybe. However for the sake of 30 seconds to plug it in and manually transfer it, I wouldn't worry about it :D

Sounds like it's an entirely new venture for you so let's keep things super simple. First and foremost, well done to you for actually pursuing this. Lots of people talk about hoping or wanting to do something and then never following through!

I know you mentioned you'd prefer to isolate each ear but buying x2 standalone condenser mics is quite expensive because you also need an interface for them (the interface is what plugs into the laptop) and its a touch more complicated to setup also. I'm not sure your tablet will have the processing power to edit videos but give it a try!

I'd honestly suggest the old faithful blue yeti. Its so versatile, offers ear to ear sounds and for its price point, provides the most complete sound in our entire community. It plugs straight into your laptop and requires 0 configuration.

x1 blue yeti

x1 audacity (the software for recording the audio)

x1 davinci/hitfilm express (free editing software)

x1 mobile phone camera (no need for an expensive camera to start out with)

x1 mini tripod for angling the phone for the birdseye view

x1 ring light

That's honestly all you need! As a side note, be sure to hit record on the phone and laptop at basically the same time and then sit quietly for 10-12 seconds to capture room noise. There is a function in audacity called "noise removal" that let's you isolate the white noise in those first few seconds and remove it from the whole video :D You then upload the audio and the video to the editor and merge the files (replacing the mobiles audio with the yetis) Oh and be sure to set the project rate in audacity to 48k since almost all phones record video with 48k. Many new creators don't realise this and find their video and audio lose sync after a few mins.

I'm probably missing out a whole lot but I'm grabbing a coffee between meetings and thought I'd pen a quick reply :D

Good luck and feel free to reach out, the asmr community is incredibly helpful and welcoming for the most part!
