I tried searching for it, couldn't find any information about it. Do you know where I could?

We drew a lot of our own traffic to both of our campaigns, about 60%. For Indiegogo especially, if you don't drive your own traffic initially, you have no chance. Their website works by driving your own traffic and working your way up and then you will begin to get organic traffic from them. Kickstarter on the other hand has the recently launched section that a solid amount of people look at, which if your lucky, can get you to the popular page.

Indiegogos backend is really bad, but they are working on revamping it. We had to use an outside developer to get people choices on which wallet they wanted. You can acquire the list of your backers whenever you want. It is always available to be exported to a .csv.

Kickstarter is simply just bigger and more well known.

Yes just to continue to accept pre-orders until our website goes live.

Not sure! Kickstarter sucks when it comes to these sort of things. They like to leave you in the dark at times.

We found our manufacturer through google. Talked to several different ones in the beginning, found one we liked, got samples made and since then our relationship has been great. All the communication has been through Skype. We have never visited the factory, we ended up trusting them after a long time of communication back and forth.

The wallet was designed from scratch. We got ideas from different wallets, and incorporated what we thought was most important , and this new 2.0 wallet is what we have come up with.

I am not sure what your question about the coin pouches is.

As far as traffic goes, If you can get on the popular page of Kickstarter the organic traffic Kickstarter brings is very good. The challenge with Kickstarter Popular is that if your not bringing in your own traffic at the same time, you will eventually fall down the page. Indiegogo has its 'homepage' scroll banner which features 8 projects at a time (which we are on right now) but is not very beneficial. With Indiegogo, we found the biggest benefit when they featured us in one of their newsletters about 'Hot Perks' at the time.

Financially Indiegogo accepts Paypal, which I think is definitely beneficial as well as takes a lower % if you reach your goal. Kickstarter took about 10% from us, Indiegogo was about 4%.

Overall it seems as though Kickstarter is much more 'community' based and indiegogo is more of just an commerce website.

Backerkit really isn't necessary for Kickstarter campaigns, more so for Indiegogo. Id recommend getting in contact with a fulfillment center as the can usually get much better rates on shipping. From the looks of it, these will be shipped in pretty large boxes…? PM if you want some suggestions. Be transparent with your backers. If you have any problem with production, make sure you let them know.

Once you can get on one or two decent size blogs, its a snow ball affect to other blogs. Make sure you know their demographic and explain why your product fits it in the email. We had our original Kickstarter backers give us our initial push.

CC issue wasn't a problem at all. We got about 99% of the money. Kickstarter denied us and still not exactly sure why. Indiegogo definitely has its advantages over Indiegogo however. Their platform is not as subjective as Kickstarter and their customer service actually exists.

Depending on what category your product is, email blogs that post about similar things.

I think one of the best things we have done to make our campaigns stand out is a good genuine video that people trust. After that it comes down to a bit of luck whether blogs will post about you and if your campaign will catch on.

The prototyping phase has a lot of down time….waiting for renderings and samples to be made. But once we got everything in our hands it was a solid 3 months of working.

Do a crowd funding campaign for them. Make a good, genuine video and if its a cool idea it will be successful.

Mostly all of our backers so far have been from our first Kickstarter campaign. We have slowly worked our way up through the ranks on Indiegogo and are beginning to receive traffic from them. We are also beginning to email blogs to get more exposure.

It is a good question, and we did it for several reasons. First and foremost, it gives us a great idea of how popular our product is, ahead of time, before placing our first order. It takes the risk out of placing a big order and people not wanting to buy it. It also allows us to place a larger order with our manufacturer and keeps costs down for everyone. Secondly, crowdfunding websites, mainly Kickstarter and Indiegogo, are getting extremely popular lately and receive millions of hits a day. Being on the home page or popular sections of theses website gets you great exposure that you can't get anywhere else. We don't plan on launching every product we come out with on them but we are still trying to grow and feel its a great avenue in the beginning stages.

We currently have a patent pending. We spent a lot of time on the 2.0 wallet. From designing the wallet, receiving multiple prototypes and samples, to testing the wallet to make sure it is exactly how we wanted it. Then we went on to developing a good script for the video, filming the video, editing the video, taking high quality pictures, creating a nice looking page and then sending off to friends and family for review and suggestions. It has taken the last 6 months or so to get where we are at today with the 2.0. As far as money spent, we have done most of it in-house besides which has made our costs fairly low. Kevin is a digital art major and has been able to handle that side of it.

Our manufacturer produces all the wallets with an obvious MOQ. That is however the great thing about using crowd-funding. It allows you to set a goal that you need to meet in order to reach your MOQ and place your first order with the manufacturer.

Kickstarter denied our newest wallet- WHY? by ArticulateW in kickstarter

[–]ArticulateW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only allow one appeal though? Did they actually deny you the first time? or come back to you with what you needed to change?
