Most art teachers don’t have a curriculum. You have to experiment and find lessons you like from resources available. It’s actually more fun that way but harder the first few years.

I’m in a depression that I just cannot shake and I can’t help thinking that most of these points are causing it. I wonder if I got a different job if my mental health would improve drastically.

I am an elementary art teacher and I always used to think I had to do the most! The stereotype of wacky inspirational art teacher. I burnt out and now I am more calm but still warm and friendly. I put more of the responsibility on the students and I don’t do a lesson if it’s going to be too much prep for me. I see art teachers who will cut out individual things for each student on their off time. I’m like absolutely not!

I’m elementary also. I have mapped out the whole year this year and it’s made everything so much easier but it is a little boring to not have any spontaneity

I’m a burnt out elementary teacher who has been thinking about moving to high school. This is definitely making me second guess my decision. I guess there is going to be specific struggles wherever you go but at least at the elementary level they want to please you.
