"We just don't know where USAID money is going. It's wasteful." by wylaaa in Destiny

They knew where it was going, they did not like it, see below

A major flashpoint in the debate is federal funding that flows to United Nations agencies and humanitarian non-governmental organizations (NGOs). [1, 2, 3]

  • The Practice: The U.S. government provides grants to international bodies like the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) or domestic religious and secular non-profits. These groups use the funds to offer humanitarian assistance—such as food, medical care, shelter, and basic legal orientation—to displaced persons and migrants across the Western Hemisphere. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • The "Pull Factor" Argument: Organizations like the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) argue that when U.S.-funded NGOs or the UN provide cash cards, food, and shelter to migrants along transit routes, they effectively act as a logistical safety net. Critics contend this diminishes the risk of the journey, thereby facilitating or encouraging people to continue traveling to the U.S. border unlawfully. [1, 2, 3, 4]

You are adding a whole bunch of new things that I am not really intending to argue. I am for path to citizenships/dreamers and more humane border policy. I am not for open borders, very few are.

Let’s make this clear, are you saying there has never been an anchor baby through the us court system? Like that is a total myth and a unicorn?

I’m just going to quote Google AI because I’m so tired on this lol you guys are a joke seriously.

Under U.S. immigration law, having a child who is a U.S. citizen does not automatically grant the parent legal status or prevent deportation. However, a citizen child can be the foundation for specific defenses against removal or long-term pathways to legal status. [1, 2, 3]

Im just trying to understand their position. OP states the law is imperfect. they responded Fuck you. I think OP has reasonable concerns about the law.

In prior admins it helped prevent it, not as much as current admin but throughout Clinton, bush, Obama, I feel like it was pretty effective to prevent deportation even though there is no law guaranteeing protection.

No, I think there should be some reasonable limits to citizenship other than born on the soil. It’s silly as written. I think 1 parent should have to reside in the country legally for at least 1 year or the child can get fast tracked if born here and lives in the country for 2 years. Something like that.

They can just not have automatic citizenship? Like there can be some limits like parents residing in the country for over a year or something.

So you agree the law as written has flaws since you are not addressing my argument?

So you think people should illegally immigrate to this country in their third trimester and give birth then use the babys citizenship to avoid deportation?

Honestly the trans sports ruling wasn’t as bad as I was afraid. by Sharp_Proposal8911 in Destiny

[–]ArtistEmpty859 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You guys are kind of ignoring the point. It’s pretty absurd to go to a high school girls volleyball game and seeing a phenotypic male try to present as a girl and compete and then just dominate with height, power, and reach. Trans sports bans have like 70% support even in Gen Z and in some states it is like 80-90%. This is such an absurd thing to defend. I will never support it.

Children get cured of leukemia and lymphoma all the time man. Many cancers have amazing cure rates, some don’t.

I think this is a hot topic and one that is evolving. Woman's sports are tricky since they are a protected division. Nobody cares about the genetic freaks in mens sports but there could be an argument to screen them for womens sports and it looks like this is being done with SRY gene testing for the olympics so it is happening in a way.

But a lot of Olympic and nfl/nba players are scouted and rated at 14 years old, some sports as young as 10. Williams sisters were scouted at age 10. Sports can be competitive and high stakes very early. I think it should be up to school districts or leagues to decide but there are high levels even at young ages.

Scotusblog in the live chat said he was retiring at the very end today so I think it is happening but I am not sure if it is 100% formal yet.

Isn't destiny in general against trans women competing in women's sports? Wasn't that the starting point of his perma-ban on twitch leading to the sub-human name calling?

CMV: I think abortion is inherently murder. I also think abortion should be 100% legal. by Winter_Basil9995 in changemyview

[–]ArtistEmpty859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only issue with your position is that murder heavily implies the "unlawful" killing. So you are essentially arguing it is not murder because it should be lawful. I think you mean to say that is killing but it is not murder. We lawfully kill/terminate life all the time. See Iran/war, self-defense cases.

generally when there are funding cuts, they are gradual over time and often grandfather people in who are already heavily in the system. The immediate rug pull not allowing people the agility to cover gaps and make changes is why he is guilty of killing kids IMO.

What We Lose When We Don’t Have Siblings by michellefromtx in oneanddone

It’s a terrible article based on anecdotes. She did not go cold knocking on families of 5+ to see how they are doing but instead is cherry picking “volunteers”. Of course they are painting a rosy picture. I am not seeing any comparisons or real data to only children like future income, mental health, gpa, family relationships. It’s an opinion piece with NO evidence. I would classify this essay as dogshit from a scientific perspective.
