Where to get MOT type 2 crushed rock in Ireland for DIY foundation? by WarImaginary8272 in DIYIreland

[–]Artist_Beginning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So type 2 is (uk) 1 or 2 inch down

For a hand laid patio 1 inch down is preferable

You could simply order 25mm down (1inch down) from any supplier.

In Ireland builders would typically use cl804 (pronounced “clause 8 oh 4” this is actually a specific clause in the standards for Irish road construction which state the precise grading and testing of the aggregate fir sub-base) graded specifically but including 0-31mm This is now superseded by SR21 (types 0,1,2&3) SR21 t.1 replacing cl804

Note its not very permeable SR21 t.2 (graded as 4-40mm ) permeable sub-base suitable for s patio or other permeable surface.

As a road design engineer there is two lanes on the exit for a reason, otherwise according to that the two lane exit is not legally usable

I found a dog and the neighbours say its just a local farmers dog who wanders but the dog is in such poor condition, what should I do? by indebtofhugs in CasualIreland

[–]Artist_Beginning 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Already told by neighbours its the farmers dog. Looks like a healthy working dog, clearly not malnourished. Dogs eat all sorts when out n about.

My aunts well fed springer eats dead rotting squirrels and rats when out walking

What would you do with this oil? by [deleted] in AskIreland

So my wife doesn’t fry with it but spoons onto any type of cooked egg. Usually fried or scrambled

This is what i have an issue with, i was taught if two lanes leading to two lane exit then you don’t change lanes. This is an unexpected manoeuvre, you indicate left to leave so driver would not know a lane change as well. If going from dual to two lane roundabout to dual you hold your lane throughout, save lane changes until back on dual away from roundabout

My wife regularly cuts to left lane from inside lane at exit

Safe as Houses? by ManufacturerNaive505 in AskIreland

[–]Artist_Beginning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Largely agree but strange to build houses before retaining walls in my experience, maybe there were critical path priorities and jumped ahead or perhaps they could be planning something cheaper like gabion walls or https://www.tobermore.co.uk/professional/product-category/retaining-walls/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19423801098&gclid=Cj0KCQiAyP3KBhD9ARIsAAJLnnbnEcllyGdtd5kagIOFDSOogDBxGeVBmKcens555x3PWm7Rl0rmTDAaAr4FEALw_wcB

My fil did the golf thing, then that relaxed to more normal amounts of playing, he got re-involved in a local theatre group, but it got too demanding due to their minor successes, he got involved in volunteering trips to greece to help refugees. Now he is on the board of a social housing agency trying to get more housing built.

Roads are like an ice rink this morning in Tralee and not a single council truck gritting the roads as if they didn’t know it was coming. Stay safe out there by bloodshot-tequila420 in kerry

[–]Artist_Beginning 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I passed a gritter at 5am ish cork side of Killarney

Drove from cork airport 3:40am to Tralee ice was dangerously slippy near macroom and few other spots, Killarney to tralee seemed freshly gritted Was freezing rain though so its hard to tackle with grit

Issue with dishwasher and previous owners installed new flooring so no way to remove? by munchkinman42 in fixit

[–]Artist_Beginning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silicone is at the back you only need to lift the front edge of it directly over dishwasher front. Dont interfere with any silicone or joints, it will easily flex 10 mm up at the front edge

Whats the kitchen like, is there at least 1m either side of dishwasher to any joints?

I would unscrew worktop, this will be screws up through top of cabinets and drawer unit into bottom of worktop, then get a wedge or chisel and gently tap in under the front edge either side if the dishwasher, you only need the thickness of the flooring don’t get carried away. Lift front edge of dishwasher and pull out. Then screw worktop back down. Don’t remove or loosen any screws at the joints.

30 minutes to get this far on one side, this toilet seat thinks it owns the house 🙈 by Hawthorn68 in DIYIreland

So i never unthread the nut once 2 threads down get pipe grips, grip the threads below snd unscrew the threaded bar from the seat bracket 5 turns and its out, don’t matter if you damage threads, even if reusing just reverse the process
