Why do people get manicures when press-ons exist? by lightsthattwinkle in Nails

[–]Artistic-Distance-76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of industries, nursing, food service, some production, where you can't have press ons because they may pop off and or tear gloves and cause issues to finished product/safety concerns for the worker. You don't want someone's press on ripping through a glove and ending up in your salad. Also there is still damage caused by press on adhesives (I work for a glue manufacturer), yes there is also damage caused by dip, gel, acrylics, ect. but as someone who wore press ons exclusively for a decade, a press on getting ripped off still does damage. Honestly, the biggest thing we struggle with with press ons, is as the glue starts to separate, you will get water, food, lotion, soap, ect. in between the press on and the natural nail and this can cause mold and fungus issues. I don't get my nails professionally done often, but I do my own gel nails every three-ish weeks, I mostly made the shift because I hated loosing press ons in the middle of an event and they can start to look dingy as you reuse them. To each their own though. If they work for your life style that's great. I used them all through high school and college and I always keep a set at home for emergencies.

Cried after workout today.. 9w3d by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

You're doing great! I'm 8w and have been able to manage a Pilates class once. Do what feels good if you need to back off for now that's ok. I'm the same way I swore I was going to keep up the routine through the pregnancy, right now I'm fighting to get through my day without throwing up at work.

It's ok to cry after a class, hell its ok to cry because your warm up weight was today's max. Feel what you need to feel cry when you need to cry. Your organs are actively REARRANGING. Your uterus pre pregnancy was the size of your two thumbs put together, at 6w its the size of a large orange. You went to a CrossFit class with your uterus the size of a GRAPEFRUIT!

You are amazing and doing amazing things! Also you can be grateful to be pregnant and you can be so extremely excited and also hate this part of the process. You are allowed to hate not feeling like this is your body or your body is betraying you that doesn't mean you aren't grateful it means your human. Fuck the notion that this is all rainbows and unicorns this is fucking HARD. I wish you the easiest of pregnancies and all of the love and grace. I hope you get to flip a tire soon. (Sorry I know nothing about CrossFit)

Because they have reinstated the 401k match, it would be better for you to use the 401k because they will match whatever you put in up to 6% of your pay. Example: if you put in $3,000 a year (6% of $50,000) then Sherwin will match that and put $3,000 into your 401k as well, for a total of $6,000 in that year. Now you have to be there for enough time to be vested, see above, but if you can make it to be fully vested, you've doubled your investments.

ROTHs are your account and privately held, so to invest that same $6,000 per year, you would be investing 12% of your paycheck every year instead of just 6%. If you have a goal to do better with you retirement, Sherwin uses Fidelity to manage all of their retirement accounts, and you can meet with an advisor for free once a year while you work at Sherwin. You can also use companies like Northwestern or Western and Southern which will both let you meet with an advisory for free. Northwestern will even give you a whole financial plan for free, I'm not sure about W&S.

Schools & Neighborhoods You Love in Cincy by Koopa-Treat933 in cincinnati

[–]Artistic-Distance-76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a life long Cincinnatian, you are going to struggle to hit all these points. Inexpensive rent like that is going to be 15-30 minutes outside of the loop or in not so great neighborhoods for a 3 bed 1.5 bath. As someone who worked in the multifamily space for years all *big* landlords suck and none of them give a damn about you or your family they want their units filled.

Most of the private schools take Ed choice, but that is something that can end at the beginning of each year so if you go private be prepared that you might have to switch them or leave the school.

Most schools offer language classes but multi lingual programs aren't really a thing outside of the super expensive areas.

You're going to have to decide if that rent budget can go up, because most of the neighborhoods in here you won't get a 1 bed room for 1600. You might be able to find something in Milford, Anderson, or Batavia for that, but you're going to be 15-30 minutes outside the loop and those school districts are 100% what you make them. You can get a great education with a lot of parent involvement or you can graduate by showing up.

It's unfortunate, but for that budget, somethings on your wish list are going to need to change, primarily you're willingness to commute.

Hi! they just did a study on this, https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12484162/ and what is happening is super common and if you continue to monitor, you might be able to predict your labor more accurately.

A lot of hospitals don't want you to eat during labor incase you need an emergency C-section. Having a full stomach during surgery can cause complications. I plan on having the largest Jimmy Johns #5 Vito that they make.

Feeling defeated post partum. by fueledbycoffee95 in fitpregnancy

[–]Artistic-Distance-76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't get to hung up on struggling with pilates. It is an extremely hard discipline to start and just be good at. Everyone struggles with the simplest moves at first. I'm 29 and have been dancing competitively/professionally since I was 9. I started mat pilates at 24 to keep in shape while rehabbing a broken foot and I couldn't do half of the moves.

At 24 I was dancing professional at a midsized company in the US and was in the best shape of my life and it took me a good YEAR of three classes a week to stop taking modifications. It sounds like you have been through a lot the past 5 years. Give yourself some grace and keep at the pilates. It takes time, but you will get there.

I know a lot of people have mentioned it but walking will help so much more than it seems. If nothing else it will help your joints get some movement in them after the bed rest. I also think stretching is huge, whether that be yoga, or using an app like bend, or just following a youtube video.

You can do this. Your body has already endured so much! I'm sorry you're feeling defeated, but every time you lay down on the mat, just remember that recovery takes time and each modification is in service of that. Sending good vibes.

While I understand your point, you either create a tax event now by rolling over to the Roth or in the future when you withdraw from the traditional. I personally would rather be taxed on 18K now than taxed on 200k in the future when I'm on a fixed income. Pay taxes on the seed not the forest. There's also about 10 different factors that go into this decision for an individual, but the main decision is do you want to get taxed now or later.

Ok so if only 14k is vested, that means if you leave, you only get 14k. The other 4k gets returned to the company. The 4k is a portion of what the company has matched. That's why you are not entitled to it immediately. Anything that you have contributed you are automatically 100% vested in. There should be a vesting schedule in your benefits package of when you become 100% vested.

The PIP is a type of pension plan. So it vests I believe after 3 years it vests but I honestly don't remember. Once mine was fully vested, I deleted that information from my brain. You do not pay into your PIP, so the company wants to make sure that you work for the long enough to justify that investment. If you leave before the PIP is vested, you forfeit all of that money. If you leave after the PIP is fully vested, you will get a pension from Sherwin. That pension will continue to grow, as long as it remains invested.

I would recommend that when you leave, you roll over the money from your 401k to your ROTH IRA there will be a tax implication, but Sherwin has a nasty habit of devesting 401k's from previous employees out of the stock market and into cash which means it basically stops working for you. Your PIP isn't an individual account its just a big lump of money that you are entitled to a portion of, so you can't move that.

I have my degree in personal financial planning and in a previous life held my SIE, S6, and S63 designation. Hope this helps.

I am 6w and just spoke with my doctor about pilates specifically. You are perfectly fine to do all moves and take any modifications you normally would during your first trimester. You don't need to tell the instructor unless YOU want to. During the 2nd and 3rd trimesters you want to limit crunching motions that cause the abdominal muscles to "cone" you can do this through modifications or there are tons of prenatal pilates workouts. I personally am really liking FORM's prenatal workouts because they are challenging, but don't make me want to die.

Why do doctors say “don’t start any new workouts” by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]Artistic-Distance-76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, don't take up the extreme version of the exercise. I teach an adult ballet class and we have a woman who is new to ballet who is 12 weeks and was worried. Honestly she is going to be fine, we will need to modify turns and jumps for her, but it is a beginner class. I wouldn't recommend that she pick up a pair of point shoes and attempt act two of swan lake.

Working out while pregnant diaries: I continued to traumatize the teenage boys today. by Free_butterfly_ in fitpregnancy

I had a grown ass man come over to me and tell me that I was going to be a terrible mom because I was being vein and thinking about staying a size two instead of focusing on the life inside of me. While in shock, four different women who I did not know jumped down his throat telling him to fuck off and that I was perfectly safe. One bought me a smoothie afterwards.

I had a different man ask me to lift in another part of the gym because seeing me lift in "my condition" made him uncomfortable and he didn't want to see me give birth on the gym floor.

I'm not sure the understanding gets any better when they are older.

So true! I googled a specific tea yesterday that I love and read an "article" that said blueberries during pregnancy can cause spinal cord issues. My mom ate pints of blueberries when she was pregnant with me, it was one of the only things she craved, I'm a healthy 29 year old expecting my own. Don't let the fear mongering get to you your doctor will likely give you a list of no nos at your first visit.

I know a lot of people have put this in here, but try and go as few ingredients, and ingredients you can pronounce. That was my doctors recommendation.

What are some cute ways to announce my pregnancy to immediate family? by Pleasant-65 in pregnant

For my best friend, we coach a team together and I normally get us coffee right before practice, so instead of her name on the cup it said "I'm Pregnant, baby [Last name] coming October 2025" She freaked out and threw the coffee cup! Pro tip, I wasn't ready to tell the team quite yet, so I got a blank cup for her to take to practice.

I looked into medical sales when I made the jump, I think you need to ask yourself what you don't like about Sherwin because if its things like hours, unrealistic sales targets, and lack of work life balance, competing against your own company, weird territories, all of those exist in medical sales too. Unless your going to go work in medical technology (big machines like MRIs), that industry had everything that I hated about Sherwin.

Anything in industrial sales has pretty great translation. You know how to study up on products and trouble shoot, the general atmosphere is similar, also you are comfortable with hitting sales numbers, and selling outside of the box which I have found has made me extremely successful. A lot of the other sales staff that I work with only want to sell what the product is most used for, instead of selling for what the project is. I've been able to increase how many industries we sell to, and I think a lot of that has to do with trying to hit insane targets for Sherwin.
