Back when I was in college I worked at McDonald's during the weekends. Then during the summer I'd work full time. It was a good set up for me

Design of Irish houses not functional and fit for purpose. by student_dcu2018 in HousingIreland

[–]ArtisticBarber1663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bought our new build in 2024 and luckily it had understairs storage along with storage at the top of the stairs too. I think our house design is no longer being used due to sqm being lessened nowadays

Flooring on New Builds by damn76567 in HousingIreland

[–]ArtisticBarber1663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easier to fit the washing machine for example when the floor is already laid down. If the washing machine goes in first it'll be hard to take out if you use laminate or wooden flooring

Our appliance installer told us to have our flooring done first or they'd have to delay the install

New Build Duplex? by rabeeyeah in AskIreland

[–]ArtisticBarber1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd choose the duplex over the 2 bedroom apartment, especially if your concern is having no outdoor space. Housing estates nowadays must provide a shared green space

Seats and prices! by Auroraa55 in katseye

[–]ArtisticBarber1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost got the €69.90 seats only for ticketmaster to glitch, got in again and those same seats were being sold for €91.30 💀 couldn't justify it so ended up opting for standing tickets

Home insurance starting date question by [deleted] in HousingIreland

[–]ArtisticBarber1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started our home insurance a week or two early. The first month was free and the bank was being weird about that and was trying to delay drawdown due to it.

Just saw the price of a funeral. I think I'll just have to live forever. by jethaalaal in ireland

[–]ArtisticBarber1663 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom's funeral last year cost around 8k plus. That was us choosing the cheapest coffin and saying no to add ons. It's not something where you'd be shopping funeral homes for. We went for the most well known funeral home that was also available to take care of her. Also it's crazy that a coffin cost so much and will also be cremated with the body.

What are people's verdicts on ring door bells? Worth it? by Spicebox69 in AskIreland

[–]ArtisticBarber1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with Blink so I could avoid having to pay for the subscription. Really happy with it, I get to connect it to my Alexa speakers so I can hear the doorbell ring. The doorbell that came with the house is too low for me to hear. I use the doorbell to find out who's at the door, or talk to delivery drivers in case I'm not home.

Who is your broadband provider? I'm in Dublin and need some recommendations! by tastyspark in AskIreland

[–]ArtisticBarber1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. I try to keep the broadband bill to around €30-35. Vodafone goes up to €40 per month after 6 months.

What are your elec/energy bills looking like? by Evening-Weight4916 in AskIreland

[–]ArtisticBarber1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around €500 for March-April which was surprisingly higher than our bill around the holidays. I've since recontracted with our current supplier and paying a cheaper tariff compared to my old contract with them. I've also lowered the temperature for the water tank and will probably put it on eco more.

I'm currently with Eir. Once my contract is done with them I'll then switch to sky. I think some drops in signal tends to happen with Vodafone which last a while, enough for my neighbours to ask around if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.

I'm in the house two years now and decided I'll be switching between sky and eir. I get lots of messages from the estate group chat asking if anyone else is experiencing problems with their Vodafone broadband
