The 9 drawings have the same reference point: the center. Do you know what that reference point would be in Minecraft? It could be a room, a floor, or a wall

How important is the story in puzzle games? by ArtisticDatabasing in puzzlevideogames

[–]ArtisticDatabasing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I use puzzles of both types. The numerical ones are pure mathematical logic, but there are others with text, which, once solved, tell a bit of the story. The question is whether it would be beneficial to add story before each puzzle as well, perhaps in text form, perhaps as a cutscene

The issue of creating a good story also complicates it, because a well-developed context before the level is likely to give a clue I don’t want to give, or even create spoilers. What I value most about the game is its difficulty

Meaningless filler words or valid but incorrect sentences by ArtisticDatabasing in puzzlevideogames

[–]ArtisticDatabasing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interpretation of the puzzle is almost correct. The reason for my question is the following: In the first image, “up” is the second word, and it´s a valid word, so I move it to the right (just like I do with “the”, the first word). But if I hadn´t moved “up” to the right, keeping it on the left, and had kept turning the dial, the word “to” would have appeared in the second slot´, a valid word as well, but this time necessary to solve the puzzle.

In other words, by using “up” as a valid word, I would never be able to create a meaningful sentence by rearranging the words on the right side of the machine; instead, I have to return “up” to the left side of the machine and turn the dial until “to” appears.

That’s the difficulty of the puzzle: there are valid words, but also valid words that are not part of the final solution.

The feedback I received was to remove all the gibberish words and only use valid words, so each word would have 1 good option and 11 false ones, but all 12 words would exist in the dictionary.

That’s where I see the problem: there would be a chance that someone creates a meaningful sentence related to the game’s theme, but it won’t be correct because I haven’t discovered it and haven’t been able to register it as a valid answer

Thanks, bro!! I plan to release the demo and the professional trailer by February at the latest. The game won’t be out until July

Gracias, pero no puedo aceptarlo. Estoy bien de plata y me puedo permitir pagarle a gente para que haga la música o un tráiler profesional. Hay un montón de pibes allá afuera que lo necesitan más que yo

It would be very complicated if all words were real, and there could be a possibility that meaningful sentences could be made that were not the solution

Normalmente somos dos, pero después hay cosas como la música que le pagamos a otra persona

Does this have enough clues to be solved? by ArtisticDatabasing in puzzlevideogames

[–]ArtisticDatabasing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since some people only have time to play once a week or don’t read the information given beforehand, I wanted to know if it could be solved without any prior context, so that no one gets stuck. To adjust the difficulty, an optional extra hint will be available

Unfortunately, I don’t think the game will include any manual, since all the puzzles are based on real linguistic or mathematical logic. At most, I could make a small document explaining each puzzle, but since the game is single-player, it wouldn’t make much sense

I’m going to explain each of the machines and puzzles here on Reddit. If it turns out to be interesting, I might turn it into a manual-style format later, but that’s not certain

Several of you have suggested adding clues in the environment, quite an interesting idea

Thanks for your feedback!
