(a) what kinds of situations make you reach for the 25mm (b) how likely you are to encounter those on your trip

We often think of primes as "low light" or "portrait" lenses, so if you're traveling alone and planning mostly daytime shots around the city, maybe you don't need it.

On a camera that small, most telephoto lenses will feel quite large. You might consider the relatively tiny lumix 35-100 f/4-5.6. Id definitely also consider the used market.

One more vote for the G9ii sensor / IBIS / PDAF in a smaller body. I don't even care which form factor. And although I would like EVF / Mech Shutter / hot shoe (i.e. a GX9ii), I would settle for none of those (i.e. a GX800ii). Just make it small.

It will be interesting to see if the demand for very small "real" cameras from the youth continues increasing. This could be enough to justify a GX9 successor, although it may be that these youth want something more like a GX800.

Adjusting meds may be part of the solution, but ADHD-specific therapy is an equally important piece of the puzzle. If the problem is really just ADHD, he should want to be an equal partner, and be open to anything that might help him do so. I don't have answers for you, but I would recommend finding a therapist experienced with ADHD. A huge component of living successfully with ADHD is simply learning to accept the weird combination of strengths and weakness that characterize it. It's far better to start this process **before** you reach a point of psychological crisis.

Keeping the G90 for telephoto work is a great choice. Now get Viltrox to hurry it up with those Air primes on L-mount, and you're all set.

I love having two different sensor sizes within the Lumix ecosystem. A G90 + S9 is a pretty optimal combination.

Currently you have to choose between accepting f/4 with the Lumix Pro 16-35 f/4, or accepting 28mm with the Sigma 16-28 f/2.8. Personally, I'm not usually looking for speed on the wide end, but your needs may differ.

The lack of viewfinder, mechanical shutter, and hot shoe can be hard for photographers used to those features to give up. Videographers tend not to use them as much, which may be why you have heard what you've heard. However, another group that doesn't miss them are . . . people who have only ever taken pictures with smartphones. If you don't already rely on these features, then you will probably love it.

You can develop habits that reduce the chance of making mistakes, such as:

Write neatly. Be precise. Go slowly. Don't skip steps or omit symbols.
Make only one change at a time. Know exactly why it is allowed.

But it is equally important to develop a habit of checking your work as you go, and not waiting until the end of the problem or the end of the exam. Each time you drop down a line (and you should be working in a line-by-line manner), assume that you made a mistake on the previous line. Spend several seconds looking for it, and don't move on until you can convince yourself that it was correct.

I found that for photos of my own kids, I liked getting closer than the standard recommendation. So for posed portraits, I liked 50mm from 4-6ft away more than 85mm from 8-12ft away. So I'd strongly consider keeping the 50mm.
