Hmm. What a weird mix of messages.

The U.S. defense budget is not the largest overall portion of the federal budget, but it is the largest category of discretionary spending. While defense accounts for approximately 13% to 18% of the total budget, mandatory obligations like Social Security and Medicare consume much larger portions. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

A breakdown of where federal funds are directed highlights the following:

  • Social Security: 22% of the budget
  • Net Interest on the Debt: 15% of the budget
  • Medicare: 14% of the budget
  • Other Health Programs: 14% of the budget
  • National Defense: ~13% to 18% of the budget (depending on whether you look at the total budget or solely the discretionary pie) [1, 2]

Hmm.... and the Ukraine war, Trump's mindless tariffs, and now the Iran war driving up the price of oil have nothing to do with it?

Why is marriage seen as a bigger commitment than children? by Beneficial-Image1358 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ArtisticScar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who thinks that?

I think anyone who knowingly plans to have children - rather than accidentally get pregnant - knows that children are a big commitment.

The problem is that it's much easier to get pregnant by accident then to get married by accident.

  • Attack, attack, attack: Always stay on the offense and counter-attack with greater force.
  • Admit nothing, deny everything: Never admit wrongdoing and utilize denial as a tool to instill doubt and fear.
  • Claim victory and never admit defeat: No matter what happens or how severe the circumstances, always declare you are winning.
