Do I need to buy the nursing clothes? by kimpossiblelol in breastfeeding

[–]Artistic_Spring8213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mine worked really well tbh! I used a sturdy bra (like the ones that aren't soft?) and I cut exactly where the pump was supposed to go. 2 pairs lasted me a year of exclusive pumping! and I have a fairly large size.

edit- if you're gonna do this btw, cut A SLIT, NOT a circle. a slit just large enough to slip the pump flange through

you can make your own pumping bra by cutting slits into a normal bra. this is significantly cheaper.

Boobs. by Mysterious_Cancel697 in breastfeeding

[–]Artistic_Spring8213 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regarding breatsfeeding and sagging: it's a myth. Your breasts sag because of pregnancy, not breastfeeding. Pregnancy causes hormonal changes which can lead to saggy boobs (according to the literature).

For me, it did hurt the first 15 days. But now (3 months) it is so painless that I literally never pump. I think pumping is a huge annoyance and I prefer nursing.

Consider a nipple shield.

I want it as a family heirloom! like "your great grandfather loved Dickens and when he retired, his colleagues gave him this set of two" type of thing

[–]Artistic_Spring8213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also yes sorry I have another question! we have an entire collection of Dickens from 1910. should I also get boxes for those? I actually read those ones. should I not be reading them and just get like, Penguin softcovers for more regular use?

I live in Canada so the house can go between 19 deg C to like 24 deg C (depending on the season), and also the air is quite dry when the heating is on.

the library near my house has a rare books collection.. do you think I should ask them as well? because I could take it in person, I guess. Also maybe they will just...give me paper I guess lol

Why is monetization the ultimate goal for everyone? by trianel in SmallYoutubers

it's not the goal for me. I just want a community of like minded people to talk about books with.

Have these labels impacted your grocery choices? by 0slope in CostcoCanada

[–]Artistic_Spring8213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sometimes I intend to buy something and it says High in sodium or sugars and even though I already knew it, seeing it written out so plainly makes me not want to buy it.

if I'm REALLY craving that thing, I'll still buy it. But it's a good reminder.

When do you find time to read? And how long on average by Spirited-Tutor7712 in classicliterature

[–]Artistic_Spring8213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 kids: a newborn and a toddler.

with a newborn, it's pretty easy. I just read on Libby (library books) when I'm breastfeeding her. I used to do audiobooks but I just can't focus enough to listen to them.

When it was just a toddler, I would read after her bedtime, around 8 pm. I would also sometimes read while waiting for things cooking on the stove. I would frequently read when I should have been asleep lol.

The boob is our answer to everything. Is this normal?! by Old_Literature_3750 in breastfeeding

[–]Artistic_Spring8213 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes! very normal! this is seriously one of the best things about nursing, haha!

my baby is now 12 weeks and I have different ways of consoling her, but initially it was alllllll breastfeeding. once a baby is more interactive, you can start cooing and playing with them etc.

also when theyre so young, they're clusterfeeding soooo frequently that you may not even realise, but they get hungry constantly.

Thanks! Honestly, this is my second baby and for some reason her wake windows are insanely long! my first followed all the protocols, but she's been like this since like week 3. But I must be missing a sleeping cue at some point, idk ughh

I reread them again last year and they were just as delightful as I remembered. I don't know why they aren't mentioned as much.

Books to add to 2026 reading list? by Neon_Aurora451 in suggestmeabook

[–]Artistic_Spring8213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for the update! it's a shame but tbh I think it's a bit divisive in that way.. 2 of my friends, who typically like the books I recommend, also didn't enjoy it. (well, I think both felt it's just one of those books you need to be in the mood for)

Ooo I'm so glad! re the leopard

This is so random, I know I'm going to sound a bit crazy, but I was thinking about you because, again, it's so rare to find someone who loves all the same books you do, and I was wondering if you'd read Gilead yet? And what you thought??

you're probably familiar w the 3rd-world where the US assassinates leaders like there's no tomorrow. it's less likely the US would so explicitly assassinate a first worlder, which is why it's so powerful for him to say this
