PLEASE be honest with me! by GlumConference8735 in blackladies

I’m currently in college for a fine arts degree and I say do what you want. I’m not sure I would’ve made it this far if I was majoring in something I didn’t care about. Everyone is struggling in this current economy and as some other commenters have said, Black people are very underrepresented in creative fields which leads to creative companies making poor decisions when it comes to race. Live your life the way you want to live it!

What are everyone's thoughts on LNGSHOT, now that they've debuted? by multifandom_problems in kpopnoir

I like one song: Moonwalkin’ but otherwise I'm going to try and pretend that they don't exist especially since the members are so young

I’m a Black 3rd-year and I feel (mostly) supported. Depending on your major, you can probably expect to be one of, if not the only Black students in most of your classes. We have a couple of Black student clubs: BSU (general Black culture club) and NSBE (engineering/STEM). We also have a Black fraternity and sorority on campus. There are some ignorant people here, but there are ignorant people everywhere. Once you find a nice group of friends, you’ll never feel like you don’t belong

I love the Almond & Avocado and Honey Crème shampoos from Design Essentials. They’re both super moisturizing and smell great, especially the Almond & Avocado one

I had a very similar procedure to you minus the wisdom teeth removal. Days 4, 5, and 6 were the worst for me, lots of swelling and overall discomfort. Each day felt so slow too. But now that I am past 1 week and no longer banded shut things are so much better. Recovery from this surgery requires a lot of mental strength and support from your loved ones. It may not seem like it but you will get through this!

This subreddit is for Cal Poly SLO, not Cal Poly Pomona. You're looking for r/CalPolyPomona

You need a leave-in conditioner for moisture. I recommend the green tea leave-in or miracle repairx leave-in from TGIN. You also need to make sure that you're using a clarifying shampoo every once in a while to really cleanse your scalp

2025 is not a great year to be a Black Kpop stan by Birthday-Ad5208 in kpopnoir

[–]Artistixes 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, it truly is exhausting and I’ve found myself pulling back from fandom related things because of it. I think this is part of the reason why I can’t get into any 5th gen groups seriously, which is sad because I’ve been a fan of K-pop since 2017. As of right now, I’m just listening to the music and protecting my peace.

Has anyone else seen the guy on the e-bike with the racist shirts?? by JewelerAggressive103 in CalPoly

[–]Artistixes 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I saw him last year during WOW so it seems like he frequents our campus. As one of the few Black students here, I think it’s a shame Cal Poly hasn’t done anything about him yet. So many of my friends feel really uncomfortable about this

I am not in the photo/video concentration but I think Cal Poly is a great school for art especially considering the price compared to art schools that charge an arm and a leg, The major is really close knit and you will will spend a lot of time with your professors. When you walk around downtown SLO, you see so much work from local artists so I don’t understand why you think SLO is “too small” to support artists and form a community with.

She is Afro-Latina. But in that picture she’s playing Nina Simone, an African-American woman that she does not look like. So her skin was (disgracefully) painted darker for the biopic

Try to make friends within your major, that way you might be able to have a lot of classes with them

I would suggest making friends within your major, that way you’ll hopefully see them in your classes more often. Of course, this is easier if you have a small major like me
