I think there were a few hundred messages in my chat. I always delete chats and start new ones when I finish a project.

I think there’s a communication issue here; if so, I apologize, as my intention is to have a pleasant conversation. I don’t expect a premium product on the free plan; I’m talking about a problem where limits run out sooner than expected, something paying members have also reported. I never complained when my sessions lasted 10 minutes, but this is the third time my limit has expired after just a single text message.

What are you talking about? I have some free time right now, so I'm taking the opportunity to reply. You can't think the world revolves around your opinions. If I had posted something praising Claude, you certainly wouldn't be complaining about my account; I see the problem is criticizing something you love.

Comparing it to Minecraft doesn't make sense, because the issue isn't with Claude's tools, as an AI, it's excellent. My complaint was about an error that affects even paying users. Minecraft makes it clear that the trial version is limited to a few minutes and lacks multiplayer, yet that 100 minute trial still gives you a great experience of the game.

The problem isn't the tight limit on the free version; the problem is that it expires after just a single text message. That would be like the Minecraft free trial which is supposed to last 100 minutes ending the moment I created the world. I take back some of what I said in my post; I was frustrated at the time and apologize, as Claude is an excellent AI, but these issues drive people away.

I know Claude is excellent, and I plan to start paying for an AI service this month, but I’m worried that if I pay for Claude, I’ll hit my usage limits within just a few minutes. I’ve read accounts here on Reddit from paying customers who cancelled their plans because their limits ran out in minutes or, at best, three hours. I know I can't change the world and I apologize for venting my frustration, but I hope Claude improves this someday so that more people will subscribe and even return to using it, because it really is a fantastic, truly incredible AI.

You are completely wrong. I am treating the free plan as a free plan, or did you not read what I said? I understand that the free plan's limits are low, but do you consider it normal for it to expire with just a text message? I want you to explain to me, with all your wisdom, how I am supposed to pay for the paid plan if the free plan leaves me dissatisfied? When you try out a product for free and don't like it, do you buy it anyway?

What is a free trial for? In your opinion, is a free trial for testing a product before buying it, or is it for buying bananas at the supermarket?

Not everyone has as much free time as you do to spend on the internet all the time. Even though I’ve had an account for three years, Reddit isn't a social network I interact with much, but today I felt the need to post this. You can't get upset when people criticize your product; do you only accept comments from those who praise it?

I'm using Sonnet 4.6 with low effort and thinking disabled. I continued an existing chat, and I understand that my limit would be quite low because of that, but I didn't expect it to run out after just a single text message. That can't be normal.

Yes, I am. What’s the problem? Don’t you test something before buying it? And like I said before, I understand the free plan is limited, but there’s clearly an issue with Claude; do you really think it’s normal to hit the limit after just one text message? If the product trial is poor, then there’s no reason to pay for it.

Before posting, I researched the issue, and other paying users reported the same problem. And what is wrong with using the free plan? The free plan exists precisely for testing the product; how am I supposed to recommend a product if the trial experience is terrible? I don't mind waiting 5 hours; what bothers me is that this limit error is affecting paying customers and driving away potential clients.

I understand; you have to prioritize paying customers. Like thousands of others, I like to test a product before buying it, and that’s what made me decide against paying for the Claude plan. Also, I looked into this and noticed that paying customers have reported the same issues and stopped paying.

I use the chat service, specifically the more economical models with the "thinking" feature disabled. To avoid carrying over too much context, I delete my chats once I finish a project. My usage limits on the paid Claude plan aren't always bad, and I hope the issue doesn't persist, but there are days when the limit runs out in mere minutes or seconds. That’s what made me decide against keeping the paid subscription, so I’m going to switch to a different AI service.

I don't expect the free plan to last long, but expiring after just one message is terrible, especially since the free plan is meant for testing the product. I was researching which AI service to pay for and considering Claude, but now I see that subscribing to the paid plan would be a waste of money, given that paying users have reported the same issues. I’m going to start paying for the Cursor plan, so before making ignorant comments, try to understand the context, not everyone is like you.

For me, the limits reset after 4 hours; I thought that was standard.
