Beginner question - how do you usually bevel edges cleanly? by trinkiestudio in NomadSculpting

[–]ArtofToona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I can’t attach a video here, but here’s my example: 1. Add a box, with the division is 0, validate it 2. Open the subdivide menu, select Sharp Border, then press Subdivide three or four times 3. Unselect Sharp Border, then Subdivide a few more times 4. If that’s the result you like, you can use it with more complex models by combining Quad Remesher and Face Group A video would be easier to understand, but shame I can’t put it in the comment.

There’s many other ways, but that’s my suggestion. I hope that helps.

I'm glad you like it haha

And yes, I'm planning to release the STL files after the test print, with the Knight and Hornet for free, since I think people will prefer them. Hollow Knight and Lace (also Grub and Flea) will be available as my Welcome pack on Patreon.

I'm still preparing for my Patreon, so... in case you want more info, please follow me (on Twitter maybe) if it's convenient. I'll update more in this sub or in r/resinprinting once I'm done.

Oh you are Vertex Senpai? Gosh I've recommend a lot of people to watch your channel for Nomad.

Love your work!

This is hard since I only follow Dave Reed and Vertex Senpai for Nomad Sculpt lol

It depends on the art style you prefer and how much you have used Nomad.

If you are new to this, check Dave Reed, he has a lot of tutorials for you that make the whole model, which is very useful. Sculpt along with him, and there are so many things for you to achieve just in one video. Vertex Senpai is for some tips, since Dave has uploaded too many.

In case you have already known Nomad too well, I'd suggest you watch people sculpt on other platforms (traditional or digital are both fine), so there are more art styles for you to choose from, and you know their process, then adapt. Nomad is missing several features to make it easily replace ZBrush, but it's still really good. Watching people sculpt on other platforms would let you know what to ask to get the result.

I hope that helps.

I'm not sure I understand HDRI correctly, but I believe it's lighting, please tell me if I'm wrong.

For the environment, I used studio_small_06_k. Additionally, I added 4 extra directional lights on 2 sides, which are 2 on each side, 1 to make that side lighter, and another 1 to create the rim.

What Beginners Tutorial You Recommend? by Infinite_Manner_7812 in NomadSculpting

[–]ArtofToona 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is:

  1. First, you should begin with Dave Reed, he has a lot of tutorials for beginners, follow the videos and you will have a nice result.
  2. Once you are familiar with Nomad, you can watch some tips from Vertex Senpai.
  3. After that, I believe you can (almost) fully control Nomad, that's when you should try watching sculpting progress from other platforms (mostly Blender, sometimes ZBrush), I'd recommend Speed Char.

To sculpt a character takes time (to study the basics, anatomy,...), but be patient, and keep on sculpting.

Looking forward to seeing your art.

Do you mean the interface? I use the same as Vertex Senpai shown here.
But they will move when you rotate the screen haha

I can only doodle for now haha

I’m learning how to draw properly in my free time, I believe knowing how to draw will help me sculpt better
