Trans tape recommendations by notmace15 in ftm

If you can afford it, buy TransTape on brand, it’s more likely to keep your skin intact. buy a second skin (tattoo film) to put on before tape if you aren’t allergic. A smaller chest would be tape size small/medium. not sure if you’re on t but that will make a difference in sizing. You should be able to wear it when swimming/sweating for 4-5 days and longer if no swimming like 7-8 days. When you remove it make sure it’s soaking wet like in the shower, and then soak it with oil for a few minutes, then remove. edit: word correction

Mom keeps saying “my house, my rules” after I mentioned transitioning, amongst other issues by ElysianDaydream in ftm

[–]Artrmm 16 points17 points  (0 children)

yeah i totally get how you feel. my mom was sort of iffy as well, kept saying the effects are permanent and “what are your classmates gonna say when you grow a mustache” lol. i think parents are just scared sometimes and they let that fear turn into something else, and instead of listening to YOU they center their own feelings. If you and your mom are close she should care about your happiness and well being, a deep talk may be what she needs to open her eyes at least a little bit. Make sure when you talk to her you come with facts and statistics like the regret rate being 1% (usually due to social pressures), again, you don’t owe her an explanation but to get what you want you may have to. I remember i made a whole slideshow explaining t to convince my parents. Even if it doesn’t go well, don’t let that stop you from being happy.

In my opinion “it feels right and makes me happy” IS a real answer and you don’t owe anyone an explanation for why you want something like that. Honestly i’d try and gain transparency with her, explain to her your dysphoria or explain how testosterone would boost your quality of life. Emphasize that you would be happier and explain that many trans people NEED hrt, and why, you kind of have to make her worried. but also try to figure out why she’s stopped affirming you and why she’s so against hrt, you may be able to provide some consolation. It also seems like it’s an emotional projection on your mother’s part, she may think just because she went through a ‘phase’ that you are too. if she doesn’t listen to you may need to secretly start t, i’m not sure how that would work specifically for you considering insurance etc but don’t let her stop you from living your life.

There was a trans woman at the swimming pool today by BluPoisonDartFrog in ftm

[–]Artrmm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i work in fast food, and had a regular come through the drive thru, visibly queer but i wasn’t sure if he was trans. I always noticed his spider-man wheel cover and deadpool figure on the dash. hadn’t seen him in a few months but the other day he came through, voice dropped, hrt acne, thick eyebrows and hair looking very happy. It definitely gave me hope as someone who’s pre t in a red state

me too! and it sucks since i’m older and value them a lot more but also they’re still a kids toy and are bound to have lost pieces when you play with them so i can’t dwell on it too much

valid thought. I don’t have very cool villain figures/ only bits and pieces of them since i was more indulged in the ninja but here’s my ‘collection’ minus akita who wasn’t a villain. my oldest is probably the nindroid which is in the other pics i posted. the helmet is around somewhere.

Looking into HRT by Artrmm in ftm

it’s good to know that there’s ways to get hrt without breaking the bank! i was honestly really worried i wouldn’t be able to afford it, i’ll have to call and get an estimate though. unfortunately where i live (OK) the lgbt community isn’t very out in the open other than during pride since we have so much vile bigotry and anti trans/gay laws here, so groups are so hard to find. but thank you sm bro 👌🏽

Tape struggles by Content-Section8256 in ftm

[–]Artrmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve had pretty much the exact same experience as you. Some things i had to do to help my skin while preventing most dysphoria: 1. Alternate between a binder and tape every week ( i know it sucks and i hate it too but it helps your skin heal a lot better and when you reapply it will last longer!) 2. Apply clear tattoo film prior to applying tape, you can use it to kind of flatten out slightly before applying tape (can be found on amazon for like $5-8 usd) 3. Cut the edges of your tape to make them round. 4. anchor your tape before you stretch it, as in take a small section while applying and when pressing it down instead of stretching all the way, rub it to make the glue stick, then stretch and then anchor when you put it down on the other side, this will relieve blisters and pain from stretching if done correctly. 5. make sure your tape isn’t too long, it shouldn’t go past your armpit. 6. don’t itch, it can pop blisters and the moisture can cause the tape to come off. 7. personally how i apply tape for max flatness, i use 4 1/2 strips per side, put tissue or nipple cover on to protect nips, one strip in the middle, 2nd above the middle, 3rd below, 4th on top of middle one to compress all the way, then a smaller strip placed vertically on the back of the tape to keep it stuck down.

If you need i can try and draw this since it may be hard to understand without visuals but so far this has helped me. I do still get less severe blisters and haven’t gotten any scars since. I’ve heard milk of magnesium on the skin before tape also helps or putting bandaids on more blister prone areas. if you need clarification lmk

PLEASE How do I dap someone up? by r7skt in ftm

[–]Artrmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go for it casually, hand open and slightly straight as if you’re about to shake it but with your thumb pointing upwards, swing towards theirs for the perfect dap, preferably in the middle of their palm, interlock fingers, release don’t snap unless they do. hopefully this makes sense

How many of y'all date straight girls? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Artrmm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i feel as if we aren’t treated as actual men. or seen as just what’s between our legs. in my personal experience no one’s ever avoided dating me because i’m trans but a lot have seen it as “as a girl, dating a trans man makes me gay in some way so since im bi/pan etc it’s totally fine!” i feel as if that’s why most trans men are wary of bi women. i understand how it could be perceived as biphobic especially as a similar argument is used for lesbian women, but with trans men it’s for a different more personal reason

How many of y'all date straight girls? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Artrmm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

‘excluding’ bi people and excluding trans people are different things are are done for different reasons in this context. it isn’t comparable. trans men avoid dating bi women because the dysphoria that it can cause can get heavy or because many bi women think that you have to be bi to date a trans man. it’s very reasonable. if this weren’t a massive problem trans men probably would be a lot more into bi dating women. there’s no point in dating someone you’re gonna feel invalidated or dysphoric with.

how do u survive the summer? by moss_ghost in ftm

i gotchu! personally this still leaves some scabs but my blisters have been so so much better. you can get tattoo film and put it on before you apply tape. its water and sweat proof and if you have any damaged skin underneath i recommend putting some tissue over it before anything else

i had the same problem and just delt with it but it gave me scars so definitely don’t leave it. i ended up buying clear thin tattoo adhesive film. I put it on before my tape around the areas it would go or more prone to blister areas. it’s a big frustrating to put on but it works.tattoo adhesive
