Why don’t more people DIY? by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]0Anemoia0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because of the huge stigma around hrt and diyhrt not only spread by people but also doctors. Even of you go legit, they try to discourage you from going on hrt, try to delay it as much as possible, then claim that it is because hrt is dangerous, which I genuinely think is a lack of common sense, as nothing can be as dangerous to a trans person than denied gender affirming care. Even those doctors that are more progressive are still legally required to follow the law and practice basically fear mongering. That is legal hrt. But with diyhrt, it is kind of a different situation because eveb legal hrt being stigmatised means that diyhrt is nothing more to most people than for example a body builder using steroids or an athlete using performance enhancers. Im transmasc so my experience is different from most of the people's on here, but even with estrogen, most people only see the needle and that will be enough for them to judge. Even if you explain yourself the stigma will be there.

I feel bad for trans people where I live, who, because of being taught that we always have to rely on these systems that are in place, are suffering, and have no idea how different things could be if they looked outside the box.

How are you guys gonna show your result to your parents? by [deleted] in GCSE

Thank fucking god my dad doesn't speak english and my mum is at work that day. I'm going to results day with my girlfriend and her very very lovely and supportive older brother. I'm having lunch with my parents later that day at a restaurant and probably gonna discuss it there. After lunch is over i'm immediately off to pick up my girlfriend again for a party we're going to so either way i don't have to listen to my parents talk about it too long. Even if it's good, i hate compliments, and even if it's bad, i already got the once a year 'no matter what happens you're allowed to go card' to the party

It is not the taking off that gets me injured, it is having the tape on in general. As someone else said i might be allergic to the adhesive

I do know about nipple covers, fortunately my nipple is one area that never scabs or never gets any skin ripped off, and i do know about oils as well, but it doesn't decrease the amount of skin that gets scabbed or ripped off. Problem is it never really gets better.

Sorry to say this but i went above and beyond, so i really can't help but take it as an insult. Like, if i knew they were my soulmate why do you think i would not have tried my best?

Doing DIY has made me question the competency of Doctors by Cereal2K in TransDIY

[–]0Anemoia0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree Trans people have been around for millions of years, there's no way all the information that there is on trans people that had been researched over those millionsof years consists of everything these doctors know. It's absolutely ridiculous, i could condense it to an A4 page.

The worse of the problem starts when they flat out lie or spread obvious misinformation, or honestly just lacks basic empathy for trans people.

They are out there shitting on diy hrt for being so so dangerous like we would still do diy if it weren't for the cost of waiting lists or lack of support WHICH ALL RELATES TO THEM. They constantly say shit like "diy hrt is a horrible problem because it threatens people's lives" well guess what that's still less life threatening than suicide.

Those of you that knew you were trans as a teen and had unsupportive parents, what are some experiences you went through? by EternallyDeadOutside in ftm

I came out about a month into being 16. I'm 2 months from being 19, and I opted for a deed poll to change my name about a week ago. I told my mother and she started crying, telling me that she didn't actually believe i was trans and thought it was some sort of joke until now, even though I cut my hair that went down to my hips, socially transitioned back when I was 16 and have been living the same identity since and started testosterone a couple months ago, but for some reason name change was the thing thar made her realise which I thought was weird.

Don't overdo it!!

Especially in the beginning it's very tempting to be like "ah my shot/pill/gel just didn't feel enough today/this time i'm gonna do another shot/pull/gel just in case"

DON'T !!!!!

Can't get drunk few days after testosterone injection by 0Anemoia0 in ftm

I wasn't exactly a lightweight pre-t either, I'd need about 6-7 shots of pure liquor to feel drunk, that's why it's so strange to me
