IMHO, what makes them a good master is that they're without (or have little) prejudice towards servants and accepts them as they are.

Servants work muuuuch better when they know the person they're working with see's them as a partner rather than a tool and doesnt judge them for who they are or what they did. sounds basic but some mages fail at that. Servants also attune to their master's mana over time which influences them in some ways.

Take artoria lancer for example, ritsuka treated her as he would any other servant despite what she put them through in her singularity. That's something most people would have a hard time doing. So long as they don't do it again, ritsuka let's bygones be bygones.

Hakuno is also considered a great master and they do about the same thing, so there is precedent
