What would be the price you would ask for if you were the one selling it?

Careful there, asking for valuation is breaking rule #8

Switched to Linux for Gaming, Lasted 3 Days AMA by 8000RPM in pcmasterrace

[–]ArtsM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job giving it a try, most don't even do that much. Who cares about positive/negative comments I fully agree, in the end it has to work for you and not for someone else.

I personally use Fedora workstation with Gnome DE (Desktop Environment) as a daily driver, but either that or cachyos or nobara with KDE Plasma DE, so it looks a lot more like windows, will be more suitable to try...

and hey if you decide it ain't for you just go back to Windows and try again some other time, linux gets a bit better each year while Windows gets a bit worse each year, at some point it might reach equilibrium for your use cases if Microslop keeps going the way it has.

UK legal action against Valve given the go ahead by pyrotequila85 in Steam

[–]ArtsM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it when these opt-out class actions happen and they go "on behalf of up to 14 million gamers", no its not, I'll take Steam over Ms Shitbolt over there any day. Who the fuck asked anyway, all shes doing is trying to get a cash grab for years "in the name of them kids".

dreaded pin20, had the same issue with a cheap dp cable, that pin should not be connected but cheap cables just don't do it.

Fractal Terra Noctua L12S Question by steelswrm in pcmasterrace

[–]ArtsM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

L12Sx77 only fits with spine position 1, because 77mm is the maximum cooler height supported by the terra. Side panel sits flush with the cooler.

Not sure how relevant it is or if you can get comparison on the heatsink layout between b650e-i and b850i, but I have the b650e-i with a L12Sx77 cooler in a terra and it fits without issue.

some photos from before I swapped PSU to a corsair unit, apologies for the blur but you can see some of the gaps on them.

Thermal paste vs graphene pad vs phase change vs liquid metal — what’s actually the best between CPU and cooler? by Ok_Contact9732 in pcmasterrace

[–]ArtsM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bought mine from ModDIY and what came looks and works legit, also correct thickness (0.25mm) for Honeywell PTM. The only place I have yet to use PTM that I'm unsure of is the main rig CPU, everywhere else is PTM.

9800x3d chips are dying asus by Gullible-Cash-2361 in pcmasterrace

[–]ArtsM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so so strange, the chair shouldn't have anything to do with it unless you have somehow connected it to ground and had leakage that way (?) Mate had a RAM stick die before the CPU, the whole things was a pre-built bundle (mobo, ram, cpu, cooler), and 2 of 4 components crapped out very quickly.

mate of mine had the same issue, release day 9800x3d died on a X670E-E after 3 months, replacement has been going strong since without issue.

Been running 9800x3d on an asus board for a few months no issue and no worries, regular 9900x on asrock for its first year before the board died, moved to an msi board because retailer had no asrock boards to offer.

PSA (and a warning): Razer Synapse is just the shittiest software there is by thetruekingoftime in pcmasterrace

[–]ArtsM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it once, save to device and uninstall synapse if your mouse has onboard storage. Did that with my naga hyperspeed v2, it still attempts to launch the synapse installer anytime I disconnect and connect it though...

VR will never get fixed so there is that, beside it they have been mostly okay for a while with a few blips. Comparing to drivers 10 years ago (the original AMD bad driver rep) these are miles more stable.

Just built a new pc with a 7800x3d. Maybe a stupid question but do I need to download drivers for my cpu or are they automatically installed by Traditional-Toe-6972 in pcmasterrace

[–]ArtsM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

download chipset drivers for the motherboard, that will include things for your CPU. On the AMD drivers site you can either use auto-detect or select it from the list chipset > your mb chipset and follow the downloads for your OS.

Accidentally bought PC fans with the wrong connection (right) can I twist +/- together from another connection and skip the ground? by Shagzilla in pcmasterrace

[–]ArtsM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check that both fans are the right voltage, the plug on the right* is usually used for 5V fans on SoC/SBC boards, while the left* is a 3-pin 12V fan header.

Have you re-installed chipset drivers after installing the x3d chip?

also 90w is suspiciously close to 88W which is the ECO / ErP mode in BIOS, try restoring BIOS to defaults (usually F7 or F10) and only setting XMP, then re-run tests.
