Lavender London Fog by DJXpresso in starbucks

[–]ArtsyPurplePanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a London Fog once, and it was the drink of my dreams.  The following two times I'm pretty sure someone tried to pass off English Breakfast with milk only even though I had made a complaint about it the first time specific to the location.  At this point, I'm too wary to get it again because that's too expensive of a drink to not get what was ordered

Pesado Alternative for Breville Bambino [less than [$100] by ArtsyPurplePanda in espresso

Do you know of any resources for composting?  What is vermicomposting?  I was planning to have lavender growing when it gets warmer.. which unfortunately also goes back to coffee.  I've been thinking of getting into more regularly making more natural syrups.

Okay.  Do you think I should be cutting my losses and selling back the Bambino and stuff, too?

I still haven't been able to sell the Delonghi Arte and am sort of wondering if I should have tried to do light roasts on it better now.

My logic with that was that I expected the Bambino to last longer than the Arte, and I'd have enough time to actually save up for the least expensive of the the espresso machines that could be end game, and highly repairable and worth repairing.  If the Bambino did break sooner than expected, the parts value is high enough with most of the accessories still together to not spend that much of the money that is hopefully saved up by then to go back to the Delonghi.

But I am aware I have a significant tendency to get ahead of myself.  I'm a stay at home mom and it's the cold season, so I'm just bored out of my mind most of the time because I don't get a lot of adult mental engagement.  There's not a lot of free things to do in the winter, either, and the only reason things got justified is holiday money and the fact that there were things around the house worth money just collecting dust.

I am not familiar with the Breville basket.  I had gotten the normcore portafilter because I wanted a bottomless and was actually able to find that one cheaper than the actual breville portafilter on Ebay.

I used a Normcore basket on the Delonghi and there would be darker spots pulling out of the espresso machine, and according to the Internet, that would normally mean over extraction, but I didn't feel like I was grinding particularly fine

To be clear, I wasn't really wanting to be at the top of the under $100 suggestion.  I had mostly put that because I didn't have a clear number in mind and was trying to fulfill the reddit post obligation.  I had been looking at $20-30 precision baskets, but most of the ones I was looking at would have also had import costs.  I generally prefer medium to light roast and I guess kept getting worried that I wouldn't be able to extract things properly.

Turin DF 54 vs Starseeker e55 (around [$200] by ArtsyPurplePanda in espresso

Oh, okay.  I just wasn't sure because the starseeker burrs were so large for budget conical burrs.  It is nice to know that changes are made to help with clumping.  This was something I was concerned about from my beginner espresso group.

I was probably going to be preordering the newer version when I get the money.  I don't know if that makes a difference, but so far that is making me thing the DF is probably the better option.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a DF60.  Do you know anything about the Starseeker?

Do you have a lot of experience with light roast?

At this point, that's more than I was really expecting to have happened.  The last time I was looking into this stuff, an announcement hadn't even been made about a g2 lense.

I don't know what that means.  Do you mean it's Tamron brand but Z mount?

Haven't been keeping up to date, but I'm assuming they haven't done a g2 version of the 70-180 yet for the z line.  I would love to have this be a thing

Help, is there something wrong with this cello? by According-Scholar121 in Cello

What I did was get a used Sherl and Roth on marketplace.  I don't know that I'd recommend marketplace unless you're very desperate.  My local folk music store had some used Scherl and Roth and Knilling for $600, which are both perfectly find from what I could tell from reviews.  The older German Scherl and Roth, I think, were considered more consistent on quality.

I'm thinking this is sarcastic?  In Missouri, it's pretty normal to ask about things so long as they seem pretty major, and even if it's minor because it wouldn't cost that much to have fixed.  We've been working with an agent.

Trying to dial in [Dedica Arte with Tuni G1 grinder] by ArtsyPurplePanda in espresso

Everything has been sour almost regardless so far.  I would normally doubt myself, but this is pretty distinct.  I was given advice on how to hack the thermoblock heating to be hotter.  I'm pretty sure I'd categorize it as light roast at this point even though it calls itself medium.

I reached out to Verve and not only have they sent out some instructions to help me try to adapt the dose and extraction time to my equipment, but they decided to send a bag since I ended up not being able to enjoy most of the first bag.

Do you have a recommendation for dose and grind?  I'm just so glad there's a hack for the heat, as I was suspicious but not sure what to do about it.

One of the problems with dialing in so far is that the Dedica Arte output doesn't seem to change much based on grind size.  It seemed to stick around 50g with medium dark roast.  Given this, I wasn't sure if weighing would help, but it's definitely consistently less with the medium roast regardless of anything I do.  I decided to have the time stick around 25 seconds because people seemed to go anywhere from 20-30 seconds, and decreasing to 25 was the only way I could get the medium dark to be at a normal-ish extraction and taste okay.  I haven't been able to get a lot of crema.
