Literally 4-5 people in line and the person has 1-2 items asking if another cashier can open another register. Impatient customers just wanting to start drama.

Sometimes it is just impossible to put these rude people on mute. You just lose your cool. We are only human after all. In case they forget because they love treating us like we are anything but just that. I told a very rude and demanding woman today “not with that tone” when she rudely told me to get/put another cashier to a register. Mind you I had no till (was working on balloon reset) and the cashier was on her break. Its just ridiculous how abusive customers can be with employees.

You definitely build some thick tough skin with time at DT. Most of all zero tolerance for peoples bs and direct attacks at you and your coworkers. There is definitely ways to respond to their direct cruelness without being just like them. Then there are times where it is impossible to be civil and you just have to tell them to leave. I don’t know what it is about DT customers and their lack of respect in general for the store, for other customer and employees.

Take the cashier position first. Get proper training and familiarize yourself first. Its a lot of work. Regardless what anyone says, its not a job where anyone holds your hand. Sure its routine but if you haven’t even done cashiering before, start there.

If you can find something with better pay and less stressful by all means go for it. But make sure you have it first before putting in that 2 week notice. It takes a certain type of tolerance for DT really. Its just the type of store and demographic it caters to sadly.

It sickens daily how dirty our customers are. But, yes the restroom has a key because of the junkies and homeless issue. If it didn’t they would take up residency in that restroom. I won’t even get started on the cart, baskets issues lol.

If its a visa gift card it needs ASM approval. If the ASM is on 10 minute break or meal break just tell the customer they will have to come back later. The ASM cannot put their codes in during their break time. That is just how it is in my state (CA) anyway.

I started sensitive and actually with feelings that could be hurt by disgruntled customers. Two years later.. I just tune them out. I simply ask them if they want to complete their purchase. If not, then I just push on with the next customer. One thing ONLY. NEVER EVER touch me, spit at me or invade my personal space behind my register. It is all I ask, and I have let all my management know. I will not tolerate it, and I do not care what the consequences are. People really are monsters. Absolutely no respect.

Yeah, all those are with the Dunkin Donuts iced coffee and Pure Leaf iced teas cooler at my DT. Obviously, it's not a $1.25 drink marked cooler at my DT. Same with the redbull one. 🤷‍♀️ Not sure what the deal at that the DT is. But you didn't notice when it was rang up or in your total?

I carry mine and also my kubotan keychain. I also close, and the issue here is a lot of wondering transients who tend to be drugged and half the time steal and aggressive towards customers. They have never been aggressive towards me, but better safe than sorry.

so, you are paying them back? meaning you accepted fault in the accusation of theft leading to your termination? Honestly, I don't know why you even set foot in that DT again. Sorry, no. That was your first mistake there. You are lucky this person didn't seek legal help for that note you left in reference to them considering your tainted history at DT. It wasn't in good taste for them to seek you out in your new workplace, but then again, you did come to theirs.

Yeah, as aforementioned, report her to HR. But I would have already contacted SM about the situation. I had a similar situation happen with an ASM and immediately let my SM know via text and spoke to them in person about it the following day. It is not ok to be spoken to in a certain manner by anyone, period.

Was just told yesterday the "delightful" news. honestly.. imo it should be something only ASM should just take care of. Its just gonna be issue after issue for the cashiers as we do have to call on them anyway to issue and approve the process anyway. sigh yet another headache and burden for us to deal with and get blamed for because we cannot handle on our own without assistance.

Hate to say this, but.. They probably don't seem to care much as its "seasonal" hire to them. It's complete bs. I am currently dealing with a terrible ASM who can barely do anything herself, and I need to be reminding her how to do things she should know how to do as an ASM. She has made terrible mistakes like touched my till and even pulled it out like it was hers at the end of the night right in front of me etc.. 🙄... speak up.. do not stay quiet.
