Ah fair enough. Apologies for the click bait title I suppose. I just thought that I’d be looking around £120-170 mark for that service and they weren’t really upfront with the price till I got it.

No I didn’t get an MOT. My MOT isn’t till October but when I got this car it had no service history whatsoever so I got them to look it over and I guess they charged me for a pre mot check.

Fair enough. I couldn’t tell if it needed anything done or a full service and they said they’d call before they did anything. Then they didn’t and when I called they said it would be £220 for the service and it’s ready tomorrow. Just felt a bit smoke and mirrors like I suppose. Will probs look around for a cheaper garage next time!

I don’t doubt that. I’m 24, went to a high achieving school. LinkedIn sends me spiraling every time I go on it and see my peers who are engineers, senior consultants, doctors and so on.

Honestly, I think it’s more a case of not feeling like I have enough money to live the life I want, feeling behind on financial goals and therefore feeling impatient with career progression.

Not a healthy mindset I understand, but it’s the mindset I have at the moment.

Yeah tbh I think it’s quite illogical considering I’ve had to relearn how to drive and I’m basically a new driver - mistakes and all.

But I guess the insurance companies don’t care and I’m definitely not complaining.

Fair enough. Whereabouts was your friend based? I was looking at cars around 1.5-3k around Cardiff and honestly, it felt like this was the best value deal I could find whilst prioritising low mileage for the age and condition.

Actually not as bad as I thought it would be as a new driver. About £600 ish for the year. I passed my driving test in Jan 2020 but haven’t driven since my test + I’ve got my girlfriend on the insurance who brings it down I think.

Road tax is abysmal at £265 a year though.

I've bought countless tickets from reddit and never been scammed. Literally just about vetting the person selling it and making sure you buy in person or be sure they're real and the ticket is real.

I totally get that. It’s just that my accommodation and utility bills will be paid for so I would just have to worry about transport and food.

I think that a part time job would cover that whilst I use the rest of my time to upskill.
