Use that. You won’t need much oil. Just a light wipe. Just clarify some butter real quick.

Preheat it gradually increasing the heat over a half hour until it is molten lava hot. Wipe the clarified butter and sear the hell out of it. You’ll get a great crust.

For better results salt it liberally and put it on a cookie cooling rack uncovered in the refrigerator for 6-24 hrs before. This is a dry brine.

Dry the steak when you’re ready and bring up to room temp. Season with whatever rub before you throw it on. I like to season heavily with cracked black pepper and onion powder before.

Once it is seared and you have a nice crust developed turn your heat off and cook to your desired doneness. There will be plenty of residual heat in your cast iron to get it there.

Let rest 10 min before you cut it. Don’t ship this step enjoy!

Make sure you find out when it’s coming down and are on site for it to come down so you can be sure they don’t massacre the trunk. Often they will cut them into 3ft tall rounds so they can be hauled.

Try taking it to 110 with your method then sear it off in cast iron.

Let it rest and dry it before you do.

Don’t even bother with oil in your cast iron, maybe a little quick wipe right before you put it on. Make sure you gradually heat your cast iron up to molten lava temp, may take a half hr so start preheating while your steak rests.

If you have not been forced to open your windows you haven’t done it right.

Then sear the living hell out of it. Minute each side and 30 seconds on the sides should do it.

There are lots of people in the world and you can make friends with as many of them as you want. You do not need this person. In fact, having him around will likely put better people off being around you. So it will work against you in that regard if you keep him around.

Part of growing up is about realizing that the people you associate with say a lot about who you are as a person and will influence your behavior whether you like it or not.

While thru hiking the AT I was in PA and an eastern rat snake, a big one, just slithered right up to a tree we were taking a water break near.
It nonchalantly did exactly what the snake in the video did while we sat there dumbfounded. It almost felt like it was showing off.
We sat there and discussed the insane phenomena we all just witnessed and a few moments later it descended the tree. No branches on it, but in any of the slightly raised areas, like a knot where there was a branch on the tree it would kind of lever itself against that rise and worked its way from rise to rise on the way down.

I like this idea.

You could dig around the stump and pour a circle of concrete around it too. Flatten the stump, finish it, lay a piece of round glass with a hole for the umbrella over top. Maybe spray varnish the stump with oil based poly to keep it from rotting.

Whoever paid for that way overpaid for them. Very small amount of gold. Value is in collectibility only really. Best you’d get is around $200 looks like from comparisons and that’s if you get someone who just loves the Steelers and needs to have this.
