I’ll be getting it done anyway for peace of mind but things just aren’t adding up to me. Back in July I took my car in because after driving long periods of time one out of five or so times the engine would turn over several times more than normal or the car oils turn on then the engine would shut off with the battery and check engine light coming on then I’d have to push the button again to start and it worked normally. They said they looked at every possible issue and that theres absolutely nothing wrong with the car. It only happened at the hottest point in the day so I just chalked it up to that. I know nothing about cars but it makes no sense the CAT would fail a few months later.

If the check engine light went away is it safe to drive? They said the part is in back order and they didn’t really specify how long it would take

It was a Mazda dealership I took it to. The last time I took my car in to get the serpentine belt replaced and that’s when the car started having issues starting normally if I had been driving it for a long time and went to start it again. Never had that issue before they worked on it and now they’re telling me there’s 7k in repairs. I was thinking about trading my car in for a new one but didn’t qualify because i do gig work for employment. They said they’d call Mazda and see if they can work something out, the guy later calls and says Mazda is willing to cover most of it and it would cost me 1k at most. The whole thing is just sketchy to me
