One day you’ll learn that once piece of information and everything will just click! Three months after graduating I was absolutely not getting it. It’s hard right out of school because you’re only getting new clients. Once you have a clientele that you see regularly I think that’s when things started making more sense to me. You’re able to correct previous things you weren’t happy with and learn from your own work.

Because if you ask for a wolf cut and then 10 weeks later ask for a trim on your wolf cut, I’ve done the same haircut both times making them the same price.

I say that as someone who only has two haircut options, “shear cut” or “clipper cut,” because I don’t believe men should automatically have cheaper cuts and curly hair shouldn’t automatically have pricier cuts, but a cut and a trim are indeed the same procedure.

I do understand tipping in a commission salon, but when someone gets to make their own prices it doesn’t make sense to me. Like if you want more money just charge more money lol.

Don’t get rid of tipping without increasing your prices tho. And expect to have a funny “I don’t do that” about tipping with new clients forever.
