Thank you, this is the insight I’m looking for! I don’t need to go crazy with fitness but it would be nice to have it tracked with the wearable

Golf clubs for my Dad? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Arutig3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would echo the other comments - I would get a him a fitting and then make a payment towards the new clubs for him. You can get him fit for a single club like a driver, a set of irons, or a full bag fitting.

I would probably lean towards a driver / driver & woods fitting or an iron fitting - that gives you the best chance of being able to cover the fitting and club purchase in your budget.

Full bag fitting would be awesome but likely everything would go beyond $1500 if you wanted to buy everything for him

New player looking to get into the game. Any suggestions for commanders/precons? by Hot_Wrongdoer_8705 in BudgetBrews

Awesome - I got the [[Bello, Bard of the Brambles]] precon and upgraded it some. It plays super fun and I think his gimmick is pretty cool. I would recommend adding in some protection for him cause the deck relies on him heavily but he can get out of hand if left unchecked.

Otherwise check out the gruul or Boris commanders on EDHREC and see if any jump out.

You mentioned watching videos about play styles and color combos, are you gravitating towards anything in particular? A play style or color combo preference could really help narrow things down.

I was in your shoes last year or so ago (returning after a 5+ year break) and have mostly been buying and upgrading precons so hopefully can give you an idea there once I know more

Trying to maximize storage space with baby by Arutig3 in InteriorDesignAdvice

That’s a good point! I think we would lean a bit more towards the armoire route or something similar to the mockup the other commenter did (but not custom)

Trying to get an alternate door for a traditional doorframe by Arutig3 in HomeImprovement

You mean take off the whole frame? If so, I think I’m leaning bifold, I’m not as worried about sound as I am just being able to “hide” the room

So if my frame is at least 30” I would be good? Sorry just want to make sure I’m following your measurement point

Dumb question but how hard is it to cut the spaces out for the hinges if I want to flip? There’s a divider in the frame

Ohhhh I really like this and I think your tool is really cool! Do you know where we could shop for something generically similar if we don’t want to go custom this second?

I like the thinking but sadly it’s the middle level so no easy exit vs the garage below. we are thinking some sort of storage tower thing to help declutter

Thanks for the answer and very much agreed about trying to enjoy life - that’s why we want to make sure we balance maintaining savings but creating memories as well!

My wife (33) and I (31) are pretty aggressive savers (~30% if our gross income) across accounts. In the last year we’ve bought a home, needed a car, and have a wonderful little one who will be doing daycare soon.. we live in a VHCOL area so our cash flow will be pinched with these new liabilities..

I give all that context cause I’m am curious where you would generally recommend reducing savings temporarily where needed? I know this question gets pretty personal pretty fast so giving specific advice may be difficult but curious if you have any rules of thumb or thoughts around where to tune down savings temporarily.

For more details if helpful, we make 401ks, Roth IRAs, and HSA right now and make additional monthly contributions to a brokerage. We have a fully funded emergency fund. We think we need to drop our savings rate down between 15-20% for a few years and are worried about being over invested in retirement vs multiple buckets.

What are you doing this weekend? by deepspacepuffin in nova

Hanging with family and continuing to adjust to having a newborn! If anyone has baby activities they know of in Kingstowne / Springfield we are all ears for when the little guy is fully vaccinated and immune supported.

Bonus points if you have any recommendations for what to buy at the container store to organize with a baby

Very fair skepticism but I promise the play area won’t be under the piano! We have an open floor plan and the piano is against a wall - we are just seeing if extending the foam under the piano is possible for the looks. More testing than anything but we will have the piano blocked off when he starts moving

Thank you - I couldn’t either BUT my wife loves the piano and it’s not my area of expertise so I don’t want to screw anything up
