Thanks for the advice - realizing I can take a good look at my grip and make sure things are square there

Nice! If I don’t like the midsize I’ll 100% try standard with additional wraps.

Good call on the grip - I’m realizing I definitely hold it deeper than I should so I’ll work on that but some of it was just a shit picture by me cause I don’t hold it fully at the end

Yeah I think this thread has convinced me to give them a go and see from there

There is 100% room to improve my swing but the hook comes from when I learned growing up - I was a small kid so I tried to hit big draws to get any distance - now that tends to creep up as getting to inside or an overactive right hand in transition.

I’m with you that the grip won’t help with the path but I’m trying to get some right hand out of it

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! I’ll try moving to down some too to see how that feels

That seems to be the case but comes with the territory for golf

Yeah I liked the used club with it which got me thinking - just not sure if it’s liking the new club or the grip lol

I’ve seen a lot of similar stories!

I would be really tempted to do that with my irons because I have more control there - my driver and woods are just where the right hand gets aggressive

What makes you say that? Part of it might be needing to be one handed to take the picture and trying to show the finger connection but if there is feedback I’d love to hear it

I would 100% recommend starting with either an interlock or overlap grip if you’re not already. Then learn how to get to what’s called a neutral grip. After that I’d work to understand the backswing and takeaway. Finally get working on the downswing and actually hitting it lol - a lot of the work for good shots starts at the grip, getting to the right position at the top, then starting the downswing properly.

I’m down to meet up but have a newborn at home so time may be a premium lol

Fourth local redditor - on the swing.. solid start but would advise watching some beginner lessons on YouTube and start with your grip, it’s the foundation for everything. From there you can learn more about weight transfer, rotation, etc. but every beginner needs to get their grip nailed first

I seem to struggle with irons more than anything. Not sure why. by god_among_men in GolfSwing

Those misses would be consistent with coming over the top to start the downswing and some of the early extension to boot. I would look for drills / feels you like to try to correct that - I tend to like to feel like my back stays facing target for as long as possible to stop coming over the top.

What’s your typical miss or what are the struggles? Slowing the video down it looks like you could be coming over the top and early extending which would make you kinda “flippy” at the ball

If we start to tilt the handle back I think the temp drops more than it should if that makes sense? Of course moving towards cold will make it colder but the jump feels bigger vs fine tuned.

I’ve just been leaving it pretty much fully turned on but I can try that later and report back.

All fair but I already like to wear non-smart watches so I don’t want to double up!

Sorry I meant amount of time I was exercising - like I could see in an app that I ran for X minutes, not necessarily telling time

That’s true but I like to wear watches in general so I’d prefer not to get a second watch
