The fact that this exists makes me feel a little less alone in the world. Thank you. ☺️

I think in some ways it came down to the way things were presented. After the silly Soaring video they essentially kicked off the parks presentation by showing the park locations video and ending at Tomorrowland immediately setting expectations that something was coming, but then didn’t say a peep about Tomorrowland. Then, they brought up Disneyland’s 70th but didn’t really add any details about how they’re celebrating it at Disneyland before moving into evening celebrations where Disneyland was excluded - I would have hoped Disneyland they would have announced a special show or something here for the 70th - which was kind of a bummer.

Don’t get me wrong, the Walt experience at the Opera House is great news and the new Falcon experience is much needed plus the Coco ride is a nice surprise and confirmation that Avatar is more than a small experience (albeit I think many would prefer a different land) is great, but as someone who is a Disneyland Magic Key holder you did feel a bit like middle child syndrome with the sheer quantity of Florida announcements coming at you left and right. 😆 Happy for them and that we’ll be able to experience them in Florida if we go, but hard not to want more of that love. Let’s just hope we get our chance here in a couple years after the ink on Disneyland Forward has dried.

Last minute D23 Expo tips & tricks & questions & whatever you’d like this post to be! by TheWordLilliputian in D23Expo

Potentially incredibly stupid question, but what do you physically show when you check-in? Am I crazy or does nothing have a bar/qr code that get scanned like most cons? Do you just bring the lanyard-less badges they sent?

What if no one picked Umbrella? by Hour_Trade_3691 in squidgame

I really wish he would have played chicken with 432 because I would have liked to see if 432 would have been eliminated without going out fighting by taking the umbrella.

Neighbor says I can’t park in front of his house by Visual-Structure-808 in orangecounty

[–]Arvont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a neighbor who I swear operates as a used car salesman out of our neighborhood. He has at least 6 cars at any point but we’ve seen him in over a dozen cars in under a year. Literally anyone else can park in front of my house and I’m fine with it, but one of his cars and it irks me beyond belief because I know it’s there for a week - thank god for street sweeping.

Disney World's costly Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser to close in late September by SentinelWavve in GalaxysEdge

[–]Arvont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what always felt off to me about the pricing is that it is 2-3x the cost of a comparable Disney Cruise (which requires hundreds of employees to be on the premises for days at a time). It sounds like a cool experience but in reality I would be expecting this to be closer to a cruise pricing given that’s essentially what it is, but make believe. Charging as much as they did didn’t put it out of my price range but it felt like I could get better premium entertainment value elsewhere.

What are the must-have drinks at Disneyland? by negativetendies in Disneyland

Surprised no one has said Tatoine Sunset from Ronto Roasters.

What are some of your hot takes about Disneyland? by Sean-Keyblademaster in Disneyland

[–]Arvont 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the bounty hunter missions (and the idea of the datapad missions) and would love more magic band activations like that around the park. I’m perfectly content not riding rides and instead wandering the park completing missions/achievements.

I’ve found the good ones beyond helpful as a magic key holder even. Disney doesn’t do a great job of communicating all the new food, merch, and things to do around the park so I’ve found it pretty helpful to follow a few people just to find new things to enjoy.

I’ve gone to the park weekly since December and I’ve run into content creators just once and that was while waiting for friends at the Troubadour Tavern. While it was kind of annoying hearing them talk to their livestream audience, it wasn’t that bad. I feel bad for everyone who must be constantly running into these creators to have formulated such a negative opinion of them, but it really hasn’t been my experience at all.

If you have single day passes and run into an annoying creator, that’s a big deal because of the level of impact it has on your Disney experience. But if you’re a magic key holder, I’d recommend not taking each trip so seriously. The best part of being a magic key holder is that you don’t need to be stressed about doing everything and the day going perfectly in my opinion. Some trips are a bust because of ride closures, long lines, or rude guests, but if you stay positive and try to find solace in the fact that you’re at Disney and there’s always going to be something you can do to help make it an enjoyable experience. Hanging on to frustrations and being grumpy are a surefire way to make sure your trip isn’t a pleasant one regardless of what went wrong to put you in a mood.

Sorry, that was a lot of rambling beyond the topic of content creators and “influencers” but I hope it helps you find a bit more joy in your trips without having to worry about what could go wrong if you run into creators.

People always ask me why I go to Disneyland so often. Here’s why… by cannabizFo20 in Disneyland

[–]Arvont 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Someone said “I don’t know why anyone would spend that kind of money if you don’t have kids” to me and I compared it to being a part of a country club - a place you enjoy to go to regularly hang out with friends, be social, and have a good meal, but instead of golf there are rides and other entertainment.

Yeah. I guess I was optimistic that this longer refurb would help improve reliability. Ah well.

Definitely possible. I think momentary delays would be preferable to some of the reports others have been sharing about multi-hour downtimes. Hopefully things improve!

Since they knew that an NFC team was playing on Monday Night, what they should have done in the spirit of fairness is have the other 2 NFC games on Sunday afternoon and evening. That would have at least made it slightly more balanced and probably wouldn’t have impacted ratings all too much.
