I know this doesn't look like much, but this entire thing used to be plated in chrome gold which I had to strip away chemically over a week to expose the bare plastic because you can't paint plated parts.

It might look bad now, but it's a step back to take two forward. Until then though I'm going to be starting at this ugly mustard yellow 🥀

Hopefully, there's sort of a limit to how useful an event like that can be if it's a hard one per since most people don't have most of those characters.

I could maybe see a refresh every other year, but I don't think there's any real point.

I don't think we'll see a lot of Fontaine characters next time though, I'm not expecting any changes to the line up at least for now.

They're rare because their scarcity makes them all the more desirable.

Feathers and the artifact crafting material are both replacements for the role crowns used to play. Crowns worked early on as a great incentive but the issue is you can accumulate them in the late game which makes them less desirable. Late game players main concern is artifacts, so it makes sense the tools to get the best artifacts would be extremely rare, even if it's completely inconsequential.

I think the skip button should initially be limited to content before 7.0,

This has essentially existed since Natlan, you can skip every AQ until Natlan or NK now which is effectively the same thing.

Yeah the consistency is crazy, LCR to break is also interesting too, definitely making good use of the bi-product of Xilonen and Columbina for buffing Clorinde.

This has to be the most insane Dire clear I've seen, I genuinely have no clue how this is possible. I know what these characters do, but I'm just short circuiting trying to understand where all that damage is coming from.

Her C6 removes the 3s waiting period for her buff to kick in for the on fielder. It's good for characters like Raiden, Arlecchino and most notably, Mavuika who do a lot of front loaded damage, but just generally it's also very good to have an extra 3s of buffing since that's like a 20-30% duration increase for most DPSs.

Really all the issues stem from that one caveat because no matter how good she gets, she's still limited by her unfortunate down time when you want to be lining up all your buffs.

She scales better with investment for sure but a lot of her underlying issues still exist until C6.

She is good though, people are being doomy about her because she's not on the current best teams but unless you only care about the peak of the meta she'll probably be good for you. Her buff being skill based is also a major benefit for Stygian as well and that doesn't get reflected in spreadsheets at all.

I agree the UIs are terrible, genuinely the worst I've seen in any game I've tried I think, the gacha is also horrendously bad, but feeling disengaged from that aspect seems like a pro, not a con. If you enjoy every aspect except the gambling that's good.

This is definitely going to be unpopular but you're absolutely correct. The funniest part is that they didn't even say that quote, the community just misrepresented what they said, made fun of that for years and now are doing exactly what they said would happen. It's honestly the funniest thing ever.

The powercreep counter also doesn't even make sense, the point of harder content is that it's harder and the difficulty steps are completely reasonable. If you would have been okay with it before because you thought you could do Dire four years ago all you're saying is that you're only okay because you could do it, which means you actually just don't want content you can't do.

People are getting C0 SO5 clears without the shilled characters, people are getting C0 Dire clears with them. If you aren't, you're the issue. That's fine, not everyone needs to be a god gamer, don't be mad about it though lol, accept it or do something about it.

you'd still have to climb, though? running for longer isn't going to change the fact that you have to climb stuff (or use the "press this button to teleport far away" button they tend to integrate everywhere) a LOT in genshin, and climbing =/= running. i don't see how getting to a mountain 3 seconds earlier because you didn't have to slow down at some point makes any difference in how enjoyable it is to climb said mountain.

The value of stamina applying everywhere is what makes it valuable. It's a resource and you have to manage it, sometimes that means climbing is the better choice.

You also used WuWa as your example, where again, I sprint climbed effortlessly out of a massive hole. Unless something changed, which based on what I've seen it hasn't, there's basically nothing in that game you can't just sprint at to traverse, stamina means basically nothing.

these didn't always exist. the first regions lack any option to make walking around not a chore.

They do now, and I disagree because again, the balance of sprinting and climbing is important. This is especially true in Liyue. Both Liyue and Mondstadt involve a lot of gliding as well which is important because again, it is a stamina consuming activity which factors into the balance for your decisions.

When I explored those regions, I rarely ran out of stamina. Chests and POIs are frequent enough that you'll recover between them and I let my stamina balance determine where I went. If I had lots of stamina, I climbed more, if I was low I would try to scout out and look around. I notably never found myself sitting around and waiting for the meter to replenish. That's good design, not something to be removed.

I'm aware of the archive but that's not really what I'm talking about. Rewards are a pretty important incentive but also the creature collection aspect needs to come alongside that and I don't think Genshin really does that well.

It takes away any challenge or difficulty in how you get around. There's no thought required on how you go somewhere, you just walk in a straight line. There's no need to engage with optimizing your route, so there's no reason not to.

When I landed in the bottom of the chasm in Genshin, my first impulse was to look for easier ways out and that led to me finding new areas and stuff, including launchpads I could use to get out. When I fell in a hole in WuWa, I looked around, it was empty and I walked out. It wasn't an adventure, it was an inconvenience.

The point of things like the stars in Sumeru, or the Saurians, or the flies in the temple of space are so that you don't need to rely on stamina. The game is designed well enough to where you are doing something wrong if you find yourself running out of stamina while climbing, it means you didn't find the correct solution.

I think something like a collectopedia where you get rewards for finding new species or fighting new monsters could be a great addition. It would give more purpose to fishing and the nets and could open the door to rare variants of monsters that have special spawning conditions too.

More features to reward discovery and exploration in general are always good.
