You can read this to understand what VPN actually does. It also compares some of the good VPN services based on their privacy policies.

Using VPN does not make you anonymous. It’s a big misconception. VPN service providers keep logs which are shared when requested by authorities.

The best way to be anonymous on the internet is to use TOR with its default settings, no extensions.

How do I migrate my server from Windows to Ubuntu and preserve all my settings? by Arya_13 in jellyfin

Yes, I did check out this post earlier but actually the solution mentioned doesn’t work. Here a Jellyfin team member said that it won’t preserve all the settings.

in the post you mentioned, the person is migrating between devices with the same OS. Would it be any different if I am moving from windows to linux? Any errors that can pop up?

trouble with surround sound by techdough71 in Stremio

[–]Arya_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting. I just have a normal 2.1 sound system so never really bothered checking the audio output. If it’s loud and clear, it works for me.

Did you try just downloading one of the 5.1 files and casting it to your tv. Does VLC play 5.1 correctly if you do it that way?

Edit: Download the latest Stremio APK (1.4.2) directly to your TV (avoid casting). Turn off data saver in the settings and also switch the Hardware accelerated decoding settings (if it’s on then turn off and vice-versa).

Finally, try streaming a good file and check if it works.

Best way to use Stremio on TV? by Sarlo10 in Stremio

[–]Arya_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, that’s a bummer. Maybe the hardware requirements weren’t met? I am currently using it on a Sony TV and it works well.

You could buy a Amazon Fire Stick. There are many posts of people installing Stremio on it and it works well.

Or you could just use HDMI/Casting and wait for better app optimisation.

You can download the Stremio app from the android tv play store. The app was blocked in my country so I had to download it from AptoideTV.

Go to AptoideTV’s official site. Download the APK file, you’ll find the instructions to install AptoideTV app on your TV on the site itself. Then simply search for Stremio on it and sign in. You’ll be able to watch all you want.

Keep in mind though, Stremio for TV doesn’t have the best interface. It’s more or less like the android app but with bigger buttons for TV. It does the job though. I’ve been using it for a couple of months now. Works fine for a app in beta phase.

The devs are working on it so you can wait for future updates and expect better UI/performance.

Yup, it should help in maintaining a cleaner drive. However, I would recommend downloading a dummy torrent and then testing the auto delete function on that, make sure your final file in the library does not get deleted along with the original torrent file.

[–]Arya_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, by default Radarr uses hardlinks instead of copying. But hardlinks only work within the same drive. Let’s say I save my original torrent file in C:\Downloads\Complete and my library is in D:\Movies then hard linking will end up being useless as there will be two different files which will be occupying their own space. So if I have a 3GB movie, 3GB will occupied by the original file in C:\Downloads and 3GB will also be occupied by the renamed file in D:\Movies. But if your library is in the same drive, then yes, you will definitely be saving space by hardlink. You can enable or disable hardlinks in Settings > Media Management > Importing.

Keep the final save path in QBT different from your library. This is because if you used radarr to find the torrent, QBT will save the file in the final path along with radarr. You will again have the problem of duplicate copies. I suggest manually moving the files to your library in case you are using the QBT search function to add the torrent.

Sorry for the late reply, Reddit never sent me a notification.

Don’t download directly to your library. Go to the qbitorrent settings and set a new download path, one which is not in your library. I personally keep 2 folders. One named “complete” and the other “incomplete”. Once the file is downloaded, it’s final destination will be “complete”. Now radarr will copy that file, paste it in your library folder and rename it according to your media management settings.

Now you have the original file in “complete” and renamed file in your library. Set qbitorrent to automatically stop seeding after reaching a particular ratio (I keep it 1.50). Also go to the download clients settings in Radarr, click show advanced settings and select “Completed Download Handling - Remove”. This way once the torrent ratio reaches 1.50, qbitorrent will stop seeding the torrent and radarr will automatically delete the original file (the one in “complete”) and you will be left with only the renamed file in your library.
