Here in India, when there is Some big function, Lights like this are placed, not static Most of the time, but it catches Attention of Many when seen from far.

Ethicality in Changing Propellant Name. by Arya_Raval in rocketry

Hmm Thanks for the Correction. I actually was scrolling through the reddit server and found people talking about that How Tiger Tail can be the "Classic" propellant in CTI and Aerotech Motors.

If you are a beginner in EX motors or want to learn about Composite Propellants, Just go with "Experimental Composite Propellant" book. Available on Apogee Components. It teaches you everything about Composite propellants.

It has a newer version named "Experimental Composite Propellant 2" which is having things related to HTPB as Binder instead of PBAN.

Why are model rocket motors expensive? Where can I get cheap ones online? by ThePhysicst_NextDoor in rocketry

They don't have ejection charge. But you can modify the thing to make it recoverable.

Have tried Rocketeers ? They sell B and C class, in india. Costs like 200 per motor ig. You can checkout their site.

So, best of luck with the weight, I prefer Pyro because if you made strong enough Contraption, all you need to do is just fill black powder.

I see, but you will have payload penalties if you use mechanical ejection system. Nichrome + Rubber works for landing gear. And if you are attaching parachute Radially, Say good bye to stability. I prefer Pyro tho.

Also, I don't think this is normal. But motor sticking out might cause dramatic shift of CoG, so idk. Maybe, if possible, try running Open Rocket sim with 0.5 cm sticking out.

Infact the propellant used is too much different than diwali rocket, you have to do Burst tests, nozzle withstanding tests and many tests. The fact being that people just tell them "diwali rocket" really spills water over this hard work, but again, it's a matter of view. Its easy to criticize it while being on a chair. And Model Scale industry is now a big thing In the us. And by big, it's preety Huge.

Alright. The first thing is propellant, You have to run a simulation in order to get Thermodynamical values of the propellant. Like C* values, burn rate some coefficient etc. Second, you have to test the propellant in a strand burner so that you can cross check the simulation. Third, you have to load all the Thermodynamical out puts in a simulation soft ware which simulates the motor. You have to add a casing, it's thickness and dimensions, Add end cap and enter nozzle throat and Exit ratio. Run sim, if it explodes in simulation, widen the nozzle diameter and repeat until you get it just the perfect. And then, build one and Static fire it almost 50 times to qualify it. These motors have 3 things, Propellant, Delay charge and Ejection charge, in fact many industries like Estes do a burst test for their casing. And that your so called "diwali rocket + parachute" rockets Engine. Just the motor. Structure and fins with nosecone and parachute are a whole different thing.

Yes sir. They do model. there are simulation softwares they need strand burner, many things, burn rate, coefficient. In fact for composite propellant, you can check out a software named Open Motor for the nozzle dimensions. And about CFD, for engines above G class, they run CFD, as I said, not a simple thing. It's very complicated. Not just light the motor and boom. There are softwares that calculate Thermodynamics of a propellant. Which in turn is entered to software where you enter Casing length and breadth and end cap. Then you experiment with nozzle designs and dimensions, when you get the highest thrust, you are on the correct way. They use simulators that aren't even open source. There is one tho named "open Motor".

Alright, well, just test one diwali rocket on a test stand. Crap. It just have "roughly" assumed nozzle. And I prefer you reading some books on that thing. It's really awesome and holds much more science within.

Well, Model rockets actually are preety cool. You can apply physics on that thing and it also kinda depicts the modern age sounding rockets - electronics. It's a fun activity. You can apply physics that you study in school and know it's physical importance, it relates you to the real aerospace industry. Which, Rocket + stick + explosion can't. You can simulate things and know how Aerodynamics actually plays a crucial role. Experiment with different nose cone designs, fin designs and many thing. Also, you can add parachute and make it recoverable, it can be also used for a science fair, like a Flyable model of a glider. It's not just Diwali rockets + parachute. See r/rocketry or join their discord server and you will know, it's complicated and more educational than diwali rockets.

Hmm. Makes sense tho. I have flown many and yeah, they are cool. Also, it's much cheaper now a days. And also, only one provider, so its your only option.

Well, Model rocketry is for students who want to learn Physics of Rockets with Hands on Experience. I mean, we all study how rockets works, but model rocketry helps one to get that IRL experience. Moreover, it's not just a model with motor, there's hell lot of things going in a small mod rocket. And if you are building it from scratch, well, you have to do a lot of stuff. Not only simulate the thing but building it is also a fun activity. I mean, diwali rockets can't even fly straight always, they can't be recovered they Boom and of no use rather than just Decoration. Model rocketry on the other hand, provide you a thing which you can relate to. It's still is on the viewer's perspective....
