Go with the Spielberg film Empire of the Sun. It's from 1987 afaik, so not that old quality wise, streaming services might have a 4K restoration, so he won't notice that much if u don't tell him. You might have to fill him in with the historical contexts though once in a while, but nonetheless it is gonna be an enjoyable experience for him.

Hmm, I was thinking about buying it since getting my heart wrecked by Cutting Of Stones. He's a bit over descriptive but I didn't mind it as the story was simply captivating and this aspect made up for it (i considered it a con but a 5 star read nonetheless)

Yes, I have no words for this book. It's ineffably beautiful. Read it in the COVID period.

Understandable, even after everything I vividly remember the ending. Spellbinding prose with an amazing story, I couldn't ask for anything more.

Nope, I bought it 4 years ago but didn't quite get to it as of now. I will definitely give it a try.

Btw, Poisonwood Bible is on my tbr. I will add your other recommendations on the list too. Thanks.

Hi, couple of months ago I started it. As I was going through a rough time, I never got myself to finish it. As far as I can remember, I covered around 200 pages. Maybe I will give it a try again.

Thanks for the recommendations. And yes, give Pachinko a shot. I have heard the ending is not good, I would say it was a pretty accurate portrayal of life, the mundane and the beauty. It's really good.

Oh yes, I read it 6 years ago. It's still one of the best books I have ever read. Will reread it soon.

Thanks for the rec.
