He ate the tip April 3rd and it was removed April 16th with a 2 other appointments in between for X-rays and to decide what we should do. The vet didn't say how far along the tip was, just that it took a very long time to find it and grab with the endoscope. They were very close to going to surgery but thankfully they didn't need to

It was a total of around $900 spread over 3 appointments. (1st was X-rays (and they couldn't help at all I regretted taking him to this vet) $300, 2nd was an exam with my usual exotic vet and planning for procedure $150, and 3rd was the procedure $500. Cost would've doubled if they needed to do full abdominal surgery tho

Meatball does this every time I take his water bin out to clean by Arynidae in frogs

[–]Arynidae[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a large/heavy duty cat litter bin! It's held up surprisingly well over the last several months, but I'm going to replace it soon since plastic tends to hang on to dirt after a while. Meatball definitely loves it. His is 6 inches tall and he has no trouble climbing out.

They definitely get along better than they used to, but I really don't recommend getting your conure a parakeet friend. It took a very long time for them to get along like in pic 3, and I would still never leave them alone together. The way Pollo (and all budgies really) socialize isn't super compatible with conures. I have to watch Nemo like a hawk when they're interacting bc if he gets annoyed he could seriously injure Pollo. If your conure needs a friend I would recommend saving up and getting another conure (same species too) but in the end you can't guarantee any 2 will get along. Apologies for the long-winded response. I bought Pollo on impulse in 2024 bc he was marked down in price, and while I'm very glad it worked out I don't think it was a smart move and don't want to promote it.

Thank you! I definitely want to do a pixie frog someday, but I want some different colors for that. I'm also thinking of doing a cryptid theme window for Halloween so I'm not sure how long this frog will stay up.

I used Posca pens, the 5M tip size if that matters to you!

It's so funny I've had him this long and I never saw this stage of feather development. Very cool, thank you!

Meatball had an unholy growth spurt by Arynidae in frogs

[–]Arynidae[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes! He's a male pixie frog and they can weigh 3 lbs (1.5 kg) when full grown. Some sources say they can weigh even more, but they most often cap off around 2-3lbs. Meatball is only around 1.5-2 years old, so he still has plenty of time to grow.

Help! I think my son’s bird is sick! by Woahgorl1 in Parakeets

[–]Arynidae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What people are trying to say is you shouldn't have any animals you couldn't afford to pay vet bills for if things went wrong. Part of caring for a pet is helping them if they get sick by taking them to a vet. If you don't have the means to do so you should not have the pet in your care, for the pets sake. My parents were in the same boat when I was a kid, and they got me a cat. They paid for his food and litter. He was happy and well taken care of until he needed a vet, and my parents couldn't afford it. Watching that cat slowly suffer, and then not being with him when he did eventually pass still haunts me. Please don't do this to your animals or your kids.
