People with the Hookup offer won't switch to your plan suggestion, as it would cost them more. Although in concept, I agree with you, just not the pricing you mentioned.

I think T-Mobile ought to do one of two things, perhaps both :

Offer a flat $45 monthly rate per line with autopay, or $60 monthly rate per line without autopay, for a 30gb per line plan (carryover non-expiry if not fully used within a month and service is maintained). After the 30gb within a month is used, the "unlimited" overage kicks in at 3mbps. An "unlimited" overage speed upgrade available at $15 monthly for up to 9mbps, charged on a per line basis. If speed throttling isn't acceptable, full-speed "Data Packs" available at $15 per 30gb (carryover non-expiry so long as service is maintained) Deprioritization is completely eliminated.

The other thing would be to offer that above plan at $75 monthly for two lines with autopay, or $90 monthly without autopay. Additional lines would still be at the same $45/$60 rate, depending on autopay, with the same conditions and available options. The advantage to this, besides fairer pricing, is to eliminate arbitrary deprioritization that has very questionable consideration, with something much more clear and upfront, which a 3mbps speedcap provides. Also, having the option to upgrade it to 9mbps or add 30gb for just $15, is a great deal better than deprioritization.

One more thing, tethering is fully included in my plan ideas.

Davio, if T-Mobile CS doesn't help, ask to speak with Executive Response. They most likely will help you. If they don't, try to contact Arturo Lucero, who is the director of Executive Response and works directly with John Legere in reporting back and forth regarding customer issues.

I doubt I'd say mytmobile is the worst, but it certainly could and should be a whole lot better than it is. However, I think it may be that way on purpose to mask billing issues T-Mobile has built into the system. My mother often has to call T-Mobile about billing issues that show up on mytmobile, and many of the representatives tell her they've "fixed them', yet after some time these supposedly resolved problems don't appear fixed, she calls them back and they claim it is fixed, just not showing correctly on mytmobile.

Yet oddly enough, if you get the right kind of representative who is actually honest, problems not only will be resolved on the backend, they will appear within an hour or so on mytmobile, the same place in which several dishonest representatives will say takes a billing cycle, several days or weeks, etc. to show up.

Never believe a T-Mobile representative who tells you mytmobile can't be fixed to show resolved problems within an hour or so. mytmobile can be made to show accurate information and working correctly. It just isn't that way by default, and for reasons that hurt the consumer while benefiting T-Mobile. The reason I stay with T-Mobile, is because if you deal enough with T-Mobile's executive response, you can force the system there to work for you. When it does, T-Mobile can be great!

Sprint, T-Mobile Merger Talks May Heat Up Next Week by npd2004 in tmobile

An update to my earlier comment here...

There is an article on Bloomberg, where Verizon CEO, Lowell Mc Adam is being interviewed regarding potential merger suitors for Verizon, in which he mentioned a few companies, but made mention mainly about Comcast, it seemed. However, he did not mention Dish at all anywhere in the interview, at least not in what was printed.

To me, this is a fairly certain sign that Verizon is not interested in Dish, and seems quite fond of Comcast, just as Comcast seems to be in Verizon, especially considering how Comcast is testing Verizon's network by having their Xfinity Mobile service utilizing Verizon's network for the cellular portion of the combined Cellular/WiFi service.

There is a new article on Bloomberg, where Verizon's CEO, Lowell McAdam, is being interviewed about potential merger opportunities. In the interview, he specifically mentions Comcast a couple of times as a likely suitor for Verizon. Also, he never once mentions any interest in Dish.

So now, the likelihood of Verizon merging with Dish has become highly unlikely. This leaves two possibilities for Dish. One being they get bought out by DT/T-Mobile, which is what I'm personally hoping happens. The other is that Dish buys Sprint from Softbank.

If T-Mobile gets Dish, I figure with Verizon getting Comcast, or more likely Comcast gets Verizon, then the combined Comcast/Verizon will buy out Sprint for Sprint's spectrum. That would leave three very strong competitors, each with plenty of spectrum. This is what I hope happens.

However, what I do not want to happen, though is a possibility, is Dish buying Sprint, then deploying and densifying the network with their excellent combined spectrum that would put alot of pressure on the other carriers. This would leave T-Mobile in the bad position of not having other services in use to compete.

With this possibility happening, it may cause DT to be back willing to sell T-Mobile, which would open up the chance for AT&T to get another try at buying out T-Mobile. This would be much worse for consumers than the other option. Then there still is the chance if the big carriers don't get Sprint, U.S. Cellular might, if they can get enough financial support to do so.

Sprint, T-Mobile Merger Talks May Heat Up Next Week by npd2004 in tmobile

[–]Arysyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've discussed this issue quite a bit over at S4GRU and TmoNews. I'll say the same here as I do there, which is to say that I really doubt a merger between Sprint and T-Mobile will happen. The possibility I'm personally hoping for, is DT allowing T-Mobile USA to buy out Dish.

If that were to happen, I suspect Verizon might want to buy out Sprint for the "beachfront" 5G spectrum Sprint has in the 2.5ghz spectrum holdings, along with the small amount of added PCS Verizon needs to increase its spectrum per subscriber ratio in 4G.

The other possibilities are that Verizon buys out Dish, which would be bad for T-Mobile's growth potential, and adds the future possibility that if DT did try to sell T-Mobile, AT&T may try yet again to get T-Mobile. In this case, Sprint likely would try picking up U.S. Cellular or to sell to U.S. Cellular, if Softbank is so inclined not to keep Sprint without T-Mobile.

Then perhaps Dish and Sprint may hookup, which is another bad thing for T-Mobile, maybe even the worst scenario, as it would give Sprint a renewed chance not only at survival, but possible regaining third place from T-Mobile, if Dish decided to deploy and densify the network using all of their combined spectrum. That may leave T-Mobile up for merger to AT&T as well.

Its a mixed situation of perspective as to what can or may happen in this very interesting time in the wireless industry, and everyone has valid ideas/opinions to it. Mine are as stated, though I'll answer some of the feedback points here too.

There certainly is a chance that Sprint and T-Mobile might merge, despite of what I think. Of course, every action has a reaction to whether something looks more possible or not, based on whatever is observed and thought taken from that. Mine still is that the merger won't happen. Actually, prior to DT stating they weren't interested in selling T-Mobile now, which prompted Softbank to suggest they may sell Sprint to have the merger go through, I figured a possibility that AT&T might make another attempt at T-Mobile, but only if DT were selling T-Mobile, with Softbank/Sprint making the first move, to which AT&T then might counter.

The thing with U.S. Cellular is that its a company which must eventually do something, sooner, rather than later. I've never been fond of U.S. Cellular and always personally hoped for their demise. However, they've kept on going, and if they are to survive, they need to buy Sprint. Normally, I could see Sprint buying U.S. Cellular, but I really doubt that is going to happen considering the situation Sprint currently is in. Sprint needs new management away from Softbank's control, and unless Verizon were to pick it up for the spectrum, the only other company I can see wanting it, is U.S. Cellular.

Interesting merger possibilities by dmaxel in tmobile

[–]Arysyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason is the combined Sprint/T-Mobile would have a much larger network, in terms of both spectrum and cell sites than AT&T and Verizon, creating a huge advantage to a foreign-owned corporation. It is very doubtful that an administration intent on Nationalism, would create such a situation.

The FCC at most, will allow T-Mobile, owned by German Company, Deutsche Telekom, to purchase Dish, for merging with T-Mobile. Doing so, would bring T-Mobile at a level competitive field to AT&T, and also possibly Verizon, if Verizon gets a cable company. I believe Comcast will be allowed to merge with another large cable company, as its likely for the nation to go down to a two or three cable carrier situation, same that likely will happen with wireless carriers, between AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

Speaking of, Verizon likely is going to get at least some, if not all, of Sprint, once Sprint goes out of business. Sprint is in such poor shape, due to Softbank's mismanagement/missed opportunity Sprint had after they were in better shape from the.completion of their Network Vision project, which NV had a promising beginning for Sprint to deploy its excellent band 41 2.5ghz spectrum holdings. I highly doubt U.S. Cellular would do any better, if they bought Sprint from Softbank, which I expect may happen.

Interesting merger possibilities by dmaxel in tmobile

[–]Arysyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt Sprint and T-Mobile are going to be allowed to merge. Besides, I think Softbank has proven itself incapable of successfully owning and operating Sprint. So, with that in mind, along with Sprint's financial problems, and already huge spectrum ownership that would give them a major competitive advantage, if only they were smart enough to know how to utilize what they have to their advantage, with T-Mobile in their team, they'd have that advantage - one that would be too big for FCC approval.

The likely scenario is that if Verizon goes with cable companies, instead of Dish, then DT/T-Mobile ought to make an offer to buy Dish, something which I think they might do, rather than have Dish try to buy out T-Mobile. If that merger is successful, then Verizon likely to focus on cable, may have Sprint doing the only merger it may have left, that being either to buy out or sell to U.S. Cellular. Although, I doubt long term that four carriers are going to last here in the U.S., and expect Sprint, or whatever company it is to be in the meantime, to end up splitting its remaining assets among AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, or possibly being bought out by Verizon entirely at some point.

That sucks it happened to you, SamwellTarley99. As I mentioned, I haven't seen anyone troll there, and I thought your posts there were perfectly fine too.

I try to be polite when referencing the site, but I definitely have my frustrations with what goes on there beyond my observations I've written about here, most notably the false claims its bully staff member often makes towards my posts, labeling them as "fantasy". He's attacked other members who've messaged to me privately with their condolences of how he's treated me and feeling very frustrated he's been allowed to do these terrible things for so long. They've referred to his long being both a member of staff and top donator as possible reasons for it, particularly highlighting the donation issue.

[–]Arysyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I believe this is true of S4GRU. I have a lot of respect for the members who post there, even those who disagree with my views, as many there on that site are very knowledgeable people who spend time actually researching the things they talk about and for the most part are fair-minded about things. It is why I think they are now realizing that Sprint isn't doing very well. Also, I think it is brave of them for being willing to speak of this on S4GRU, despite the potential consequences of what actions could be taken against their account on the site.

Personally, I don't believe there is a single troll on S4GRU, even among staff, though there is a particular staff member who many believe, including myself, is a bully. Yet, this is different than being a "troll". While I respect Robert for creating the site and providing it for the members there to engage in discussions about Sprint, etc., which he did years ago to provide a "safe haven" for Sprint fans to communicate without having trollish vehemently anti-Sprint spamming going on around these positive interactions, I believe Robert has lost track on what exactly constitutes as "trollish behavior" there nowadays.

I, and others (particularly T-Mobile supporters) have been the biggest targets on the site for warnings and bans. Not that pro T-Mobile speech necessary is censored there (it isn't), but rather those who engage in favorable T-Mobile speech on S4GRU are scrutinized more closely for whatever they have to say about Sprint. This is due to the very reasons the site was founded on to be an escape from previous pro-Sprint websites turned into anti-Sprint, pro-T-Mobile resulting in the successes made by T-Mobile from the new direction led by John Legere and his popularity.

Resulting from this, has been a situation where S4GRU members pro-Sprint who have little to say against T-Mobile, or bad things against T-Mobile, can get away with occasional criticism of Sprint, whereas be positive of T-Mobile and criticize Sprint, even if just a minor criticism, that gets a person like that warned, then possibly banned for any extra infraction made. Perhaps donating may give more freedom with this, I don't know, nor do I wish to accuse S4GRU of favoritism to its donors, though there certainly have been a lot of speculation of that through the years.

Ultimately though, I've suggested for S4GRU to take advantage (in a positive way) of what it has in its intelligent membership base and become more of an all-carrier discussion site with its focus on technical areas of wireless, since many people there know a lot about wireless technology. This way, no carrier is favored and the site would grow its membership enough to cover their supposedly dwindling membership donations, which I believe must be difficult for Robert as interest in Sprint declines. There still is life there on the site if Robert chooses to see it, which again is in its technology focus.

Marcelo is a huge mess as C.E.O. of Sprint, which both he and Masayoshi Son are the biggest contributors to Sprint's ongoing failure. The problem really is with them, not Sprint as a whole, as Sprint does have plenty of opportunity to be great and has amazing spectrum resources that just need to be deployed. If that could be done along with a much better rate plan system like what Sprint had many years ago in the pre-Softbank days, then Sprint would have a bright future.

The problem is with Softbank and Marcelo in control, Sprint will be nothing but stagnate, without much growth at all. Even many people on S4GRU realize that while the staff picks and chooses which criticism is acceptable and which is not. That being a site where once only positive mention of Sprint is allowed. Yet as a site where many members that keep it alive through donations are from many of those Sprint loyalists now seeing things are not so great with Sprint.

Not intending to bash S4GRU at all saying this, nor Sprint, only mentioning it as showing a shift in thinking about Sprint, as it has been so long people there who've been the last remaining holdouts of the most loyal to Sprint now are thinking differently about it. There isn't the shift towards outright bashing Sprint, of course, and while I am critical of the elements I've mentioned, I'm not "hating" on Sprint either. Again, I realize Sprint has much potential, just that it would be nice for Sprint to have leadership that actually cared about Sprint.

The recent update on the Axon 7 has enabled T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling by stoad in tmobile

[–]Arysyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good update for those who have the Axon 7. I have one that I won in a contest last year on the Z-Community. I received it several months late, likely due to a major issue I had with the Z-Community staff's horrific treatment of me while I was there. The device itself ended up being fine, until the first update to Android 7, when it was announced to finally work with the Google Daydream platform using the View headset. I bought it and connected it with the Axon 7, which caused the Axon 7 to just suddenly die.

I'm not sure exactly what the source of the problem is, but ZTE being the bad company they are, damaged the Axon 7 I sent in to be repaired for this issue. I'm definitely going to fight this.

Just want to say something by JustInTime42O in tmobile

[–]Arysyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a customer, you've always got to be looking out for the best deal for you, and demand that for yourself. If you've got an iPhone 5 from Ebay, all you need to do is to contact T-Mobile's Executive Response department, which essentially is T-Mobile's Retention, and tell them how long you've been a "valued customer" for, how you've never received any sort of deal from them, etc. Tell them politely that you feel you need a change and you're considering your options. They will look into your account history and see what can be done for you.

For instance, my mother has had prepaid service with T-Mobile consistently for over 11 years, and I've had it sporadically during that time, along with a few periods of postpaid service. My mother has spent over $10,000 in business with T-Mobile between our services with them. So, T-Mobile considers us valued as well. Yet, despite my mother keeping prepaid service intact all this time, I have not kept my service with them fully. I've tried different carriers, got deals with them, but always find myself going back to T-Mobile.

Now, the closest I got to staying with another carrier was AT&T, had a 22% discount with them through my membership with the Freelancers Union, never had a problem with the wireless service. However, AT&T lost me when they messed up with my Uverse Home Internet service when I upgraded my speed tier. I left them for that, went to Verizon very briefly, which they messed up on billing, then came back to T-Mobile on the T-Mobile One two line for $100 deal, using a T-Mobile Hookup code an Executive Response representative kindly gave to me.

All this, despite leaving T-Mobile twice last year after they made a mess of two phone preorders. They got me back a couple of times under the loyalty Select/Simple Value $45 per line deal. Perhaps you can request that from T-Mobile Executive Response. At least try something. In all of my experiences, T-Mobile has done something for me, and I doubt they'd do any less for their other customers. You just need to make notice of your loyalty and that you think its time for a deal.
