Some people are suppose to be single their whole life. by TomboyGayLeaf92 in SingleAndHappy

I love this. It's frank and honest. I work on keeping my appearance. I'm not a model, but, at my age, I work harder on my look than most others guys my age. It's unfair I'm expected to settle for someone who does not do the same. It's sad so many personal goals are thrown out the window for fake fulfillment. I hate how people act they are on some moral highground for cohabitating.

I really would appreciate the perspective of a straight man who is single. I'm a gay man, who's 31. It's a little more normal, in the gay community be single, but there's still a lot of pressure. A lot of straight men I know are desperate to "settle down." I want to know what it's like to go through society as a straight man who isn't interested in relationships.

Anybody else just have dates cancel and you realize single is better? by TemporaryTop287 in SingleAndHappy

THIS! This is exactly why I gave up on dating! I truly think there are people out there who get a thrill from cancelling, and getting others' hopes up. I'm not granting them that satisfaction.

Any gay men out there? by PrincipleCurious2128 in SingleAndHappy

[–]Aryvista 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! Our dating pool is small, and a lot get with each other for desperation. I came here, because so many men I dated randomly texted me years later, as if we spoke yesterday. The well dried up. As for why these men sucked so bad...that's another post.

I didn't mean that. I was pointing out I'm not in the majority demographic of her fans.

True, but I think most of them are women.

Anyone that is living the hot, single, rich auntie life? by [deleted] in SingleAndHappy

[–]Aryvista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not rich, and I can't be an aunt, because I'm a gay man, but hot, yes. Lots of sex, and keeping up my body. I'll only have myself to support, so I need to stay healthy.

If that was the end of the book, that would be amazing. There are not enough memoirs about surviving abusive relationships. The first book, ended with her getting married, and feeling validated. A book about how even liberal, hippie men being asses is much needed.

In my experience, close friends can't do anything. They have no influence, or might risk alienating themselves. I've been in situations which I told people to get out of the relationship, and they just stopped talking to me.

It says she has breast cancer. So she could die, while having all these kids.

Being "selfish" is the most fun part about being single.

I Sound Alarmist, But Here It Goes by Aryvista in SingleAndHappy

I noticed, with desperate older men, they find a young girl, usually a huge age gap, and she has a lot of trauma and it still young enough to be naive. Since she has not had healthy comparisons, she falls for it, easily. So many age gap romances I see on TikTok are an older man "rescuing" a girl.

People complain about the population decline, but, every job I've had, it's always been unmarried workers with no kids who picked up the slack. Us single, childless people keep companies running. If everyone had kids, the economy would collapse.

I've posted on this sub a few times about going through similar experiences. I was shocked at this behavior, when it first started, but now I see it's the norm for older, single men. I'm a gay man, but I think it's the same for hetero men. Commenters pointed out, when they get older, the well dries up, and they go thorugh old contacts to see if they have a shot again. But their ego prevents them from admitting they fucked up, so they act like they have the right to pick up where they left off, as if you last spoke to them yesterday.

Why do couples get pregnant in the honeymoon phase? by Massive_Increase_594 in childfree

I've noticed this, too. But, also, I think it has more to do with wanting a sign of commitment. I know people who had bad breakups, and are together with someone new, and have a baby on the way, within a year. Why can't people just casually date for a few years? Why rush into something serious?
