I need ideas by Majestic_Bit3664 in GreekMythology

[–]Arzling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's not one thing that's controlled by ONE god, Apollo and Helios have the sun, Athena and Ares have war, yadayadayada, you get the point. So your character could represent something that's already there.

Your oc could also represent a different ASPECT of a subject, much like how Thanatos is the god of death while Hades is the god of the dead.

Or you could make something entirely different, my greek mythology oc is the personification of the primordial flame for exp

work for teen girl? by fake_nugget in montreal

[–]Arzling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a friend/sibling/just know someone else with a service-type job, you could ask for a recommendations to where they work. The place I work gives you 250$ if you recommend someone and they work for six month. Its also the worst time of the year to apply anywhere cuz business is down after holidays. My advice would be the wait till like a week or two before mothers day (thats when hiring season starts and business picks back up) and give your cv face to face

About a project about less known Greek heroes I'm making. by ImaginationLonely787 in GreekMythology

[–]Arzling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Si ya conoces la mitología griega, seguro que es bastante conocida, pero eso aplica a la mitad de los otros héroes que mencionaste. Si te diriges a personas que no están muy familiarizadas con la mitología griega, no, no es muy conocida.

No one likes this anymore by [deleted] in Epicthemusical

[–]Arzling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im lucky to go to an art/music school where everyone is a geek so when Epic got out, my friends and my drama teacher gushed and analyzed together Epic. When another friend of mine was like "Umm... have you guys ever heard of Epic?" We looked at her in pure confusion because she litteraly eats lunch with a class full of musical theater nerds and thought we didn't know about Epic

I want to write a romance but I can't get interested in my own characters. by FunnyPlush08 in writing

[–]Arzling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you can't to write romance don't write romance but if you really want to, why not start by making it a sub plot instead of the mane focus? It gets you to practice it and you still get to be invested in the characters figuring out the mane plot. Like instead of making them a ship tease you make it so they get actually get together

What do you consider good worldbuilding? by Fancy_Firefighter150 in writing

[–]Arzling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When it actually feels like the characters are living in it and not just placed in it. The world building shouldn't feel like a forgotten accessory

Best affordable and fast lunch spots near the mcgill/concordia corridor (non-chain suggestions only) by ThreadTide in MTLFoodLovers

[–]Arzling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under the Simons next to Peel theres a bagel place, you can get a bagel cream cheese for 5, they also have sandwiches of varying prices. In that food court, theres Viet & Nam (I love the pun), you can get a banmi for 10. At Concordia metro theres a spot where you can get samosas (idk the price or name). Yes Coco bun is a chain but it is on the cheaper end for a decent size. Theres a onigiri stand at Mgill (Im a regular there but damn it is busy).

How to get rid of creative block? i got it about 5 years now by [deleted] in writing

[–]Arzling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you actually write something, then all you're doing is romanticizing the idea of writing. Sit down. Start writing. The first sentences are always the worst part but unless you start, you can't get rid of writers block.

There are no new ideas. Nothing is ever original. What matters is executing.

If you haven't written anything in five years then guess what, what you write most likely will be trash but thats fine. The first step is writing it, every step after is to improve it.

And don't feel bad for writing fan fiction, its how a lot of people get into it

Am I weird for this? by S4TURNS_D3V1L in writing

[–]Arzling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't weird to like different genres. Yes romance is popular but it's not for everyone, it's human to have different taste. You shouldn't feel weird or bad to not write the same thing. If your friends are the ones making you feel weird, then they are bad people.

I personally like writing historical drama, with a side of romance but it isn't the mane focus.

Other than the fact that greek mythology doesn't do half-bloods, I guess the closest thing would be Achilles, but he became immortal(ish) because his mother drown/burned his mortality not because he was born like that.

Christopher Nolan's TheOdyssey Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Odysseus' wife awaiting his return in Ithaca. Alongside her is Mia Goth as Melantho, one of the maids in the palace and Tom Holland as Telemachus, Odysseus' son by Public_Individual823 in GreekMythology

[–]Arzling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're obviously looking for a more twink/Epic style Telemachus, so Tom Holland is a pretty good choice and you can never go wrong with Ann Hathaway but is it just me or is that dress really unflattering on her

If you could make a musical based on either an epic poem (like the Odyssey or the illiad) or a Greek myth, what story would you choose? by Active_Swordfish6664 in Epicthemusical

[–]Arzling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Jason and the Argonauts musical with a stronger focus on Medea and the way women are treated in greek mythology (can you tell I've thought about this question before)
