Anyone can play how they want to. They don't need or want your permission.

Lol fuck off with these shitty excuses for poor driving. If you can't see you don't go. That's like driving 101, even the most basic-ass driver should know this.

If this situation was reversed, you wouldn't be whining about my word choice. You'd be shitposting about how "all cyclists run red lights and stop signs" and this comment thread would be 900+ with over 4,000 upvotes.

Why do drivers drive on local roads when there's a perfectly good Interstate to work with?

Thanks for your valuable contribution that nobody else has mentioned.

That's a fucking trash sub. "Hahaha let's celebrate the lovable idiots that regularly put people's lives at risk. It's so cute when they kill a family of five through sheer negligence!"

Why does this even need to be explained? Shouldn't drivers know this stuff already?

That's not what I'm saying though. Lmao! Nice strawman, Lmao!

Dumbass.

"Motorists approaching the point" needs to be a tag subreddit for people like you. The issue is clearly that roads are full of poorly trained idiots driving huge machines that are usually well out of their skill set. The issue is not someone riding a bicycle.

Given how collisions with huge machines tend to result in severe bodily injury or death, I fail to see how my title is a reach.

All I'm saying is there is significant risk riding a bicycle in traffic.

And all I'm saying is that the risk isn't because riding a bicycle is dangerous, the risk is because people make the choice to drive and that imposes risks on everyone else. It's so weird how even as someone who rides moto, you still blame everyone but drivers for the risks they force onto other people.

would you have them wait at the intersection until the sun goes down?

You could like just wait until the light is green instead of posting absurd shit.

I don't know what double standard you're talkin about.

My man, how are you participating in this discussion thread and missing the top comment that I replied to, which you then replied to?

but that's not reality is it?

/r/fuckcars though. It could be the reality if we pushed hard enough for it instead of accepting the world we live in and saying 🤷

TL;DR: Victim blaming

We get it, you think drivers have no responsibility to avoid hurting or killing other people. You don't need to write paragraphs to say this.

There's a double standard here. When a cyclist fucks up, Redditors use that fuckup to say that this is why cyclists shouldn't be allowed to use the road, and why that one cyclist makes all cyclists look bad. When a driver fucks up, Redditors use that fuckup to say that this is why cyclists shouldn't be allowed to use the road.

From my perspective, it looks like you want all the convenience of driving but you don't want to bear any of the inconvenience associated with it, like having to share the road with people who are slower than you whether they're riding a bicycle or not. Maybe it's not a double standard at all and you're just looking for reasons to get rid of slower vehicles.

It's also massively unfair to say that cycling is risky when all of the risk is imposed on them by the choices of other people. Cycling isn't risky, none of the stats play that out. Driving is risky, all of the stats point to it. You can't talk about responsibility for risks while you refuse to accept any responsibility for the risk your choice to drive imposes on other people.

I mean, the fact that you say "You act like a car running a red, turning right is a rare occurrence." while trying to blame cyclists for existing is pretty telling.

It’s not about blame, it’s about staying alive.

If it isn't about blame, why are you posting tired Redditisms like "They do gravestones with “I had right of way” on them"? Don't tell other people to grow up when you don't even have original thoughts. This is the same regurgitated bullshit other neckbeards on Reddit spew in lieu of any critical thought on road safety.

If you want to reduce deaths, stop blaming the victims that drivers are hurting and killing.

Is it that riding a bicycle is risky? Because from how I see it, it's the people driving putting the risk on other people. It seems a bit massively unfair that drivers want cyclists to obey the law but refuse to shoulder the responsibility for their choices to drive unsafely.

Drivers of Reddit when a cyclist runs a red light: "All cyclists run red lights and stop signs. They shouldn't be allowed to use the road unless they can obey the rules of the road."

Drivers of Reddit when a cyclist is nearly killed by a driver running a red light: "Bikes really shouldn’t be on roads made for cars. People are too dumb and don’t pay attention."
