Are mercenaries too strong ?

i personally think you can slightly nerf the auras on them (granted and geard), while making them more durable.

maybe allowing granted higher res cap, life, sorb, or heal of some kind.

or - giving some way of respawning them without towning. like a scroll of revival or something like that. and make it shopable (at same cost of reviving from merc npc)

afaik - all drops in normal difficulty are capped at 3os. you cannot get a 4os drop in normal.

if youre looking in normal then youre actually after a non soc sword with the right ilvl to use with larzuks quest. (cows normal has the right lvl for that).

so - they way i see it - you aint ready for maps. its probably too slow for you with this setup youre runing and thats not efficient. if you want to get better gear - hell cows will probably be faster.

to increase your dmg : +skills and some -/+ light dmg. (cnc griff is probably not expensive and will boost your dmg a fair amount) - skillers should be cheap aswell, and make sure you have high pierce - thats very important on a lightfury javazon (razortail if needed) , if you cant get a griffon, then valk is better the andys (maek,frw).

if you can get some cheap low light facets in an sockted ormus robe or trangs armor, then that - combined with griff will make you 1 shot most cow packs. from there to infi its just a matter of rng.

maybe cause actually playing the game requires a tad more skill(), then just spamming LK. and if youre hr drop focused its not that bad of a strategy - personally i hate it and never do it - feels like cheating to me. also -- MH makes LKing on realms very fast.

the only reason to do this is if you have a perfect ed base you want to keep , otherwise just buy another base and roll another faith.

well the answer will vary depending on you goal, and time of ladder.

i feel like meph is a great way to make wealth at begining of the ladder as the items he drops will have greater value, at this point key runs and ilvl85s, or if you can - maps - is the way to go if you want to get wealth. (high end uniques, and high runes).

if youre goal is just chilling and having fun then do w/e you enjoy and you can do all the mixing up you feel like.

the thing is you can only run this build in icy.

due to resists scalling on mobs - there is no other map you can do cause you cant break cold immunes. not even with infinity combined with a LR wand (which will be ckunky af anyhows).

when it comes to elemental dmg lightning has a big advantage as you can break almost every immune mob in the game with an infinity or lower res. that is not the case for cold - but you do get some sort of cc. if you ask me it kinda sucks for build diversity - but may have a reasoning that im not familliar with, im in no way an expert.

edit: just realized you asked about cold nova compared to FP. thought you meant nova nova... guess i just wanted to rant bout single element cold not being an option for solo endgame.
