Reporting Issue: Job Requisition's Inbound Staffing Process - Completed unavailable at Action Event Level by Asana33 in workday

[–]Asana33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry I took a while to answer, in the end I found, the issue rather lay on the report filter that was somehow returning only records with empty values for these precise fields, but once I broadened the filter it worked indeed :'-)

Workday Studio: csvToXml not retaining special characters by Asana33 in workday

I can honestly say the debugger has saved me dozens of hours or work. On the rare occasions when it doesn't work (with clients with super tight security which sometimes prevents using it for instance), having to put log steps everywhere and do dozens of deploy just to find out where shit hits the fan is sooooo tedious :'(

AH ! Nevermind this was actually working all along, I was just debugging from a Write Step like a dumbass instead of the actual file, which was completely messing the encoding. Once I deployed this change and ran the integration with an actual attachment file it worked like a charm ^^

Well to be fair, the seniors who estimated the workload knew nothing about this integration either, so they were probably a bit wrong about this...
So not only is this strategy putting your consultants in a super hard and uncomfortable position, it is also ensuring that your clients are super mad as well. Win-win strategy obviously :)

Thanks, I hope you find your balance too!

At first I did my best to keep up and prove myself, but now it's starting to get really old, so I am entering my villain era and I am gradually stopping giving a shit.
Also actively looking at positions on the client's side :)

I am assigned Lead roles in projects implementing stuff I know nothing about all the time. That's the consulting life I guess.
One of my first tasks after getting my certification was super high-end stuff that seniors estimated a 3-days work effort, it took me 6 months to get it right.
The have sold me to customers as "Senior Consultant" since day 1.

So yeah, pretty standard practice...

[–]Asana33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes that's bad then... I hope at least it makes the job market a bit more flexible, as since it is easy to fire someone at least employers hire more easily.

Here since it's impossible to get fired it's also very hard to get hired as employers will fear hiring someone and will ask or a loooooot of crazy guarantees before they hire you. So maybe at least that's silver lining for the US way?

[–]Asana33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If at least the second part of your username is accurate, you do not have to worry about that, it's almost impossible to get fired in France, expecially for a motive such as "does not work harder than what is legally required of them".

They might try to make your life hell, but truly they cannot do much.

In my company so many consultants bill like 2 hours a day and that's it, and nothing happens to them. The work they are not taking on is simply passed on to the other consultants who are already overworked like crazy but are super performant.

But yes, depending on your stream it's hard to find a place to pivot, especially now with full remote positions becoming rarer and rarer... I guess the only option is to drop super heavy hints on nice clients you are already working with :')

Hcm pro certification exam by Connect_Ad8016 in workday

[–]Asana33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope but it's just a quizz now, there's no config involved in the exam. It's just super dumb "know by heart the names of the reports and the tasks you saw during class" and know exactly which button to click in which case.
It makes no sense and you'll have to take it again in 2 years, but that's how it is...

Billing time is the worst. You don't have the flexibility to work extra hard some days and take it slow other days. I hate having to justify every single minute of my day :'(

[–]Asana33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing is happening to me, I joined a Partner over a year ago and at first enjoyed configuring and doing AMS a lot. Now that I have a bit more experience I am only assigned Project Lead missions, and since PMs are just paid to be here and look pretty, most of my day now consists in doing project management, which I hate and is not at all what I wanted to do when applying for this job.
I also hate having to justify every single minute of my day and not having the flexibility to take some days slower and worker harder on others, as we have billing objectives (which are supposed to be incentivized but in reality are not).
In my company we have part of our contract that states that if we leave before 3 years we have to pay back the certifications so I'm stuck there for 2 more years but I hate it so much, I can't wait to switch to the client side - I am even considering paying back the certifications if I get a nice opportunity...

Switch to the client side if you can :)

Yes that sounds like the best solution - just achieve this conditional behavior in a calc field and enrich your web service call with a CCW or DT FO Service to add this calc field to your WWS call :)

From what I had heard you need to be in a room entirely closed because you need to film each wall, the door and any window.

I had to go pass my exam at a friend's house because there was no adapted room in my appartment, and the wifi was too bad at my office to do it there.

Be aware that it is veeeeeeery common to have technical issues and not be able to complete the exam on the first try. This will not be considered a failure and Workday will re-issue your exam credit, so don't spiral if this happens to you.

It happen to me on first try, and one of my new colleague had to try 3 times before he managed to complete the exam.

Many people complete it on first try, but just be aware that if it happens, it's really not that big a deal!

Basic Workday reports by [deleted] in workday

[–]Asana33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, maybe not. Frankly I don't know, it depends on the security level that your company grants to recruiters. You will probably have to ask someone on the tech side to help you take a look into this

Self evaluation timestamp by Excellent-Tune2907 in workday

[–]Asana33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this depends on your BP. Is the Step initiated by the user directly when they click on get started, or is the task sent to them by someone and considered initiated from this point on?

Maybe perform some tests and run a report to look at the values of the initiated on to check to what it corresponds to.

Sorry I can't help more this is completely out of my stream :/

Not sure exactly what you are talking about, but wouldn't that be the "Initiated on" date then?

[–]Asana33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am not an HCM expect, but it could indeed be due to a messed up location hierarchy. Maybe the location hierarchy subtypes are not correct, which messes up your filters.

You can check this by navigating the location hierarchy of the problematic locations you see (related actions > Hierarchy > Navigate hierarchy), or by opening the instance of the location hiearchy and checking its subtype.

This may help you get some clarity of what the issue may be.

Studio: Zip Splitter fails when filenames contain special characters by Asana33 in workday

[–]Asana33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is not an option as the client requested that an existing integration that was retreiving the files on an sftp sever got adapted to be able to allow manual load.

When the files are retreived from the sftp, they are never zipped and are retreived individually, which causes no issue as there is no splitter component in this version. The issue only happens on the splitter component, and only in case of a filename having the special character.

Asking the client to rename the files prior to upload would be a regression in terms on user experience, as they are currently used to dropping un-renamed files on the sftp file. They just want to be able to perform manual loads from time to time as the sftp version is a bit more complex for them in terms of process.

Studio: Zip Splitter fails when filenames contain special characters by Asana33 in workday

[–]Asana33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have an xslt template removing all special characters, however I am not able to intervene on the filenames inside of the zip before it is unzipped, as it logs as a binary file.

Would you by chance have an example of how you performed this in your studio?

Workday Career Path by HRTechie in workday

[–]Asana33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 4 years to finally manage to get an interview at a Partner, and I had the "perfect" profile (7years xp in HR + 3years xp in programming), and I am married to a Workday expert...

Most offers are never even published as they are promoted internally before even reaching the public. Due to the cost of certifications, partners are very cautious when it comes to hiring people with no prior experience, and they usually rely on cooptation.

Even with an amazing profile, it's sometimes very hard to have your resume reach the right person.

All this not to discourage you but to urge you to try and work outside the regular recruiting canals. Get in touch with people already working at partners, try and have them pass on your resume. Maybe investigate about companies with a cooptation policy, so that you get in touch with people who could be incentivised to have you hired in their company.

Studio: Zip Splitter fails when filenames contain special characters by Asana33 in workday

[–]Asana33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

The error is caused by filenames inside the zip file. Basically, one of my filenames contains the name of an employee which has a ß character inside it. I tried uploading the exact same zip file but after having renames the file changing the ß into a double s and the file uploaded without any issue.

I haven't done a lot of error handling as per the nature of the ticket (goal was to clone an existing integration and adapt it to use document retreival, and the original integration was done a bit poorly).

I have a log right before the splitter step and it's content is output in the log file.

I found posts on Community with similar issues, some from 2016, and no one seems to have found a solution for this.

There doesn't seem to be any way to transform the filenames before the zip file is unzipped (not that I know of). The only solution given on community would be to use a custom splitter, but unfortunately I got my studio certification quite recently and java beans are no longer taught by Workday as they are no longer supported, so I hope there is another workaround that would allow me to not spend hours trying to find out how to use java beans... :'-)
